Hi, this is the Daily Thread for My birthday This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread that we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we have achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.

:bdaycake: To me

Morning. Got family over later so Sunday roast for 15. Seem, to be working rather hard when I should be taking it easy.
Had a small party last night and again there is loads of food left over, so we will be sorted for most of the week I think.
Wet and mucky here, waiting for the cold snap to come and dry things up a bit.
Have a nice day everyone.

    Happy Birthday N9eav!!!

How's everyone today? First of February, eh, where did January go then? The days are already getting longer too.

Like N9eav, I've got a birthday this month, I'll be 40 in 16 days time  I've not worked out yet if life will begin or just grind to a halt?! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well, I didn't do very much yesterday, slept, drank tea, walked the dog and hung out about 4 loads of washing, which all dried by the time I went to bed :T . I'm still choked with this cold and not feeling 100% at all. Tea was meatballs and spaghetti, but DH bought the tray of meatballs in the Co-op because they looked good  It saved me cooking which was good, as I sure didn't feel like eating.

I'd asked him to get me dissolvable aspirin and he came home with the ordinary ones - how I'm meant to gargle with them, I've no idea ;)

I'm going to make roast chicken for today and then make soup from the stock once I've stripped the carcass.

I hope you all have a good day - I'm away for my first cuppa!

    Happy Birthday N9eav - have a great day:bdaycake:

I woke up a bit late this morning! I hope everyone has a good - and not too cold - Sunday.

I'll catch up later. (((Hugs))) to all who are sad, worried, unwell or nursing poorly loved ones.

    Morning :hello:

    Happy Birthday N9eav :D

Is this a first on the OS board? - I made vacuum cleaner bags yesterday :D I last bought replacement bags about 4 years ago and have re-used them to death. I don't want to pay for more, so I cut a hole in the final used one, emptied it out, took it apart and used it as a template. Mr tru brings home loads of old paperwork so I used that. No boring old plain vacuum cleaner bags for me - they're printed with carpet prices and old orders :rotfl:

Mr tru probably won't surface til at least 10am  so I'll get the ironing done when I'm dressed. Then I'll drag him out of bed, make some thermal mugs of coffee and we'll go down the garden to dig, fill pots with compost and plant seeds. please don't rain please don't rain please don't rain

Meat day today - the oven will be busy with a leg of lamb and a chicken.

    Morning Everyone

:bdaycake: Happy Birthday N9eav hope that its a lovely day for you

MSD-Lit my candles, said my prayers and I really hope they worked and that Tristan improves

Well its cold and windy here this morning. But it has the makings of a nice sunny day.I actually got some washing dry on the line yesterday so might have another go today if the weather stays dry.Its supposed to start getting colder as from today brrrrrr roll on summer

Hubby has just left for work and the kids are all in their bedrooms with their tellys on and squabbling so its a normal start to a Sunday morning:D .I'm off to make another brew and head for the shower in a minute before starting my day.I've a pile of ironing that Edmund Hilary would have to climb so that needs sorting.I also need to put the BM on and sort the meal plan out for next week as well as bring some sort of order to the chaos in the house. One day at home and my kids can undo all the cleaning and tidying that took me all week to do:rolleyes: .I want to crack on with my patchwork as well as my crocheting today and I want to get some time on the wii.Well sitting here wont get that lot done so have a nice day all

    Morning all

    :bdaycake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY N9EAV :bdaycake:

It's cloudy and cold here in Kent. Found someone to do our kitchen floor, he is someone who is listed as a Fair Trader on our local Council's website so he should be good. Just waiting for him to send us an estimate and hope the insurance company will accept it.

£10 M&S meal deal turkey for dinner as well as the veges that go with it. Their fruit pannacotta for afters. Plenty of ironing to keep me busy while the turkey is cooking. Must put BM on in a mo for a spicy fruit loaf. Haven't had one of those for a few weeks so that will be nice with a cuppa at tea time while watching the footie.

Apart from that not alot going on here. Have to go on a course for 3 days next week. Just in time to fight my way through the traffic that grinds to a halt when we have at least half an inch of snow round here

Have a good day everyone, and keep warm.

  • Morning all,

Happy Birthday N9eav!! Have a great day :)

    MSDiva, thinking of you.
Tru, that's very creative of you!!! I have been known to sit tipping the dust out of a full bag because I don't have any others left. Don't think it's supposed to rain, but you may find the garden covered in snow by tomorrow?!
Chrisca, I noticed Tesco's were doing a similar meal deal from their "Finest" range for £9. Only in the branch I saw it, there were no main meals on the shelf, so don't know what the choice was!!

Today will be mainly essay writing. And hopefully get the first one pretty much finished. In fact I am determined it will be!!!

However I have some carrots in the fridge so that will be soup for lunchtime. Dinner will be chicken kievs perhaps, and jacket potatoes - not too labour-intensive...!

Time for another cuppa for me as well. Have a good day all.
