Silvercharming I would ring her and tell her something has come up, so she can't come for supper. She's not a friend, and as for telling you that Dave has moaned about something that you treasure, well....it seems to me like she is also trying to cause trouble. I wouldn't have her in the house again.0

Afternoon all
Its lovely and sunny here today, but sooooo cold, I just went out to the dustbin and the cold hit me like a slap in the face brrrrr
HAPPY BIRTHDAY N9eav  :bdaycake: hope its a good one
Diva - I left my candle burning until it went out last night, then said a little prayer for Tristan, I am thinking of you all today x
Kathy - we have a friend, a bricklayer, the best in the business and as straight as they came, some years ago he did a job for a lady in Solihull, a brick wall round her front garden, well after several reminders and visits over the next 10 months. she still had'nt paid him....so.....he told her if she did'nt pay up in 2 weeks he would knock it down, she did'nt pay up so he went and asked her again still no joy,so he got his sledge hammer out of the car and said "last chance" "you would'nt dare" said she, wrong thing to say....down it came, then he drove off, and that as they say was the end of the story. Which surprised us all we thought she would at least send a solicitors letter but no.So from then on he had some money up front for any job he did.
Silvercharming - what a bloomin cheek, thats no friend, must say you have more patience than me she would have been out of here with a flea in her ear, how dare she!!!!!! good luck for this afternoon.
Well I better go get Dinner sorted, Lamb shank today with all the trimmings mmm lovely.
(((hugs))) for all in need lots to go round x

JackieO thanks for the comment re Fair Traders, makes me feel more confident in using him. Wanted someone who came recommended and using someone who has the Fair Trader logo seems a safe bet.
BTW weather update - yes, it's still snowing0 -
Afternoon all :hello:
Happy birthday N9eav :bdaycake:
MSD - I said a prayer for Tristan at church this morning x
silvercharming, I agree with the others. You are a more patient woman than I am! I become less and less tolerant of p*ss-taking as the years go by, and generally speak my mind in such cases. Probably not very Christian of me but there you go
I got home from church half an hour ago and have been doing some basic chores such as cleaning the kitchen and unloading/reloading the dishwasher (needed doing before I could even think about cooking anything!) and am about to rustle up a Thai green chicken curry for the freezer (using one of the Thai curry pastes on last week's Lidl special on Asian ingredients). I am going out tonight to a concert but am really tired (partly due to neighbour playing REALLY loud music at 7am
) and am worried that if I don't have a nap I will fall asleep during the concert. So will start off the curry and then transfer to the oven - if it's set on the timer it automatically shuts the power off when the timer runs down to 00:00, so it won't matter if I go to sleep. Then when I wake up I can have some curry for my tea before I go out.
Must get on with that curry...

Silver just had to come back on to say What a b****Y nerve of that woman. My blood is also boiling, there is no way you are mean, she may be lonely but now we know why. What a cheek to ask for the tumblers! I think I agree with the others and would have to bring the subject up again accidentaly, you have so much patience. Im a bit of a soft touch myself but that is ridiculous good luck whatever you decideVisa £[STRIKE]5063 [/STRIKE]now 0. Loan 1 €[STRIKE]4885[/STRIKE] now 0. Thanks everyone for your kind words. I think part of the problem is that I do feel sorry for her. Every time I want to get angry with her I just feel bad that she doesn't really have any family or real friends. I know you can't have a friendship based on pity, but you can put up with someone and be grateful that you're not in the same boat!
I have spoken to Dave about this a bit more just now, when I felt I'd simmered down a bit. He said he was oblivious to most of what was said because he was too busy watching the Man U game on telly  and said if he'd heard her he'd have stuck his oar in and definitely not said she could come round for supper. He was really annoyed that she'd made comments about him moaning, she did this sort of thing once before and he had to have words then too. So anyway, I'm going to grit my teeth and get through this evening, Dave has promised that he'll make sure she doesn't outstay her welcome, then he's going to have a word with her on his own. He's going to tell her she's not to just come over without phoning and checking it's okay with us first, and that she's basically just got to behave herself. Also she's got her beliefs and we've got ours, it's none of her business.
So it's going to be awkward for Dave but hopefully he'll sort things outThe alternative was telling her she wasn't welcome any more at all, but I'd hate to do that to her, because like I said, she doesn't really have anyone else, whether that's her fault or not, it's still not very nice.

Afternoon all,
Lazy day as DD4 is cooking dinner, she has also been clearing out DGSs room as she bought him bunkbeds last night and wants to have the room clear in readiness for their arrival.
Overcast and dark here but looks as if it will be rain we get rather than snow...cold too, will have to go to living room soon as OH has a fire going.
Silvercharming...can't remember who suggested a phone call saying that you would be out, I think it a great idea, wouldn't want her in my house let alone feed her!
MSD....hugs
Smoky...you are doing great....
Hugs to all in need or want

Hi all
Been MIA for the last couple of weeks, but missing you all!
Busy with mum, she's rather confused - we're not sure if it's an infection, medication she's on or stress after my dad passed away just before Christmas. Sis & I doing all sorts for/with her partly to help her, partly to reassure ourselves! Not too bad today, so I've got a very short break for myself - b*gger the ironing!;)
Gave my sis a big bag of craft things I'm getting rid of, think there'll be loads more later this week, plus hundreds of cross stitch mags to freecycle or give away elsewhere. Slowly regaining some space in my house - not before time!:rotfl:
Does anyone know where I can buy cheap quilt covers for a cot quilt? The ones I've seen are very expensive - cheapest being Dunelm at about £12, still a bit much for a baby's quilt. If I can't find anything cheaper, I'll have to borrow a sewing machine & make some, worked out I can make 2 from a single sheet.
Had CH on very low since morning, had to turn off, dreading bill, but house is freezing, so it's going on again in a mo. My main oven conked out last night, so hoping top oven will work to make tea, or else we're having toast or tinned soup. Really needed oven today, cos I was going to bake all sorts to freeze - & also to warm up kitchen!
If I don't get back today, hope everyone's day was OK, hugs & kisses to all in need.

Snowing here! -and it's sticking! Dd is beside herself with excitement.
Silvercharming I'm flabbergasted by the cheek of your 'friend'.
Had a lovely raost chicken for lunch with roast spuds and roast carrots, jerusalem artichokes and parsnips. Made stock with the giblets so the gravy was delicious.
Chocolate creams for pudding and enough left for tomorrow and Tues.
I'm going to make chicken noodle salad with the leftovers. The kids can have it in their lunch boxes. I'll add miso broth to the rest of the salad and -hey presto chicken noodle soup for tea;)
Oh -snow's stopped:(0 -
Good Afternoon Everyone.
Am in a bit of a stew as DS in hospital yet again - problem with his pancreas. Loads of pain, on morphine. Hope snow comes to lot less than forecast as I expect we'll need to be going off to visit him in a day or so.
Silvercharming, can't believe anyone could be that rude - you have the patience of a saint!
N9eav - happy Birthday!:bdaycake:
((HUGS)) to all in need today.Resolution:
