I sure a man would spend extra on a tool to make a regular job he'd have to do be easier ;) That was what I told OH and he couldn't argue. An iron isn't something thats never gonna get used so I think it justifys itself when you consider the cost :p

This ones reduced from £49.99 to £19.99 in argos. Don't know how good it is, though?

My sister has one like that. She likes it. I think you get what you pay for though. I tried to reserve one as a spare but they're out of stock in all the Argos within a 60 mile radius of here. I didn't try farther afield. They're old stock so they won't be getting any more in either.

I won't be getting one ... I HATE ironing with a passion, so will just carry on using the one I have. There's loads more enjoyable things to spend money on :p

Ive been using a steam generator iron for over 6yrs now. Wouldn't use anything else. Mine's a Tefal, so cant say what other brands are llike.

It cuts ironing down by half, as the steam is so powerfull, it irons the other side. I used to hate ironing jeans/curtains/bedding etc, but now - I actually love ironing. Its also easier to go over buttons, when the buttons are faced down.

I have used a normal iron since, (at a friends house), the quality wasn't as good and took forever and a day to iron a pair of jeans. Never again

If you know anyone who has got one, why not ask to borrow theirs for a while as a trial run, so you can make your own mind up.

They do seem weird to use at first, my OH, avoided using it, said he coudlnt work it - but when I refused to iron his work shirts, (for this reason) he had no choice but to use it, now we fight over the ironing.

I have the polti steamer and bought the iron attachment - its fabulous and you can iron everything on high heat as its just steam heat not electric heat and it cuts down the ironing time - a bonus - I actually enjoy ironing now!!!!!!! This is such a great bonus for me
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j
  • I have a Morphy Richards one which I absolutely love. It is a basic one, and I got it in one of those Cash Generator stores - it's brand new though. I paid £40 but the same one is in argos for £79.99. Mine makes ironing so quick. I fold T-shirts and then iron them folded and they are great. I love it!

Originally had the one form Aldi's but it wa faulty. Took it back for refund!
Changed to a Tefal Pro Express and love it!
One slight disadvantage is that the generator can be a little noisy when heating (talking all of 10 secs maybe) so well able to put up with.
Plus side, yes makes ironing quicker, can refill water at anytime, recommended it to all my friends.
Bought it in Argos for £119.99  BUT it was reduced from £149.99 :rotfl:
