Hmmm there may be visible freezer burn which again would affect the quality but as far as I remember reading on here - it's a quality issue rather than a safety one.

Here is an older thread along the same lines which confirm what Ive said.

So would be better placed in something with liquid so you don't taste the dryness

Ta zippychick! I feel like such a numpty now! Chucked away a perfectly good pack of open sausages because I was worried that they had been in the freezer longer than the supposed 'safe month' that they always say on the packets. Nevermind, lesson learnt!

Absolutely - it's all about learning isn't it? SOciety and consumerism has us so petrified about dates on products and guidelines - but really, I personally think a log of it is pure rubbish

Let us know how your cookery adventure goes, I would start with sausage casserole Easy peasy can't really go wrong.

I had a duck in the freezer from Christmas 2010 that I'd forgotten about.It was scoffed Christmas 2011 with no ill effects to me or anyone else who ate it.
