I've done a search, but couldn't find anything - sorry!
I have had some Asda speciality pork sausages in my freezer for some time.
I got them out to defrost last night and noticed they look wrong...
The top layer of sausages look cooked and the bottom look raw.
Could this be freezer burn or is the meat off?
Also, if it IS freezer burn, is it ok to eat them?
Thank you so much

How long is "some time" in your freezer? If you put them in immediately after purchasing and they were fresh then, it's probably freezer burn, in which case they should be OK to eat. The meat contents may be a little dried up though, in which case they may be better served in a caserole with some onions and a nice beefy gravy.0

Thank you Primrose!
It's been a few months (maybe 4 - I'm not too sure)
They went in straight after I purchased them.
I'm planning on sausage casserole tonight - so I'm guessing they're fine?Trying hard to money save....0 -
Freezer burn. No it won't hurt you but the texture of the surface will have dried out...basically freezer burn is similar to freeze-dried in texture! And yes, you need a more liquidy method of cooking. Grilling or frying would be less successful.Val.0

Food can not go off in the freezer. It's freezer burn and a casserole is the way to go;)0

Definitely sounds like freezer burn. Like you've already discovered, it's OK to eat stuff with freezer burn, it just makes the texture a bit weird sometimes. The only thing with freezer burn I couldn't eat were some pitta breads as the flavour was affected too & they were rank.
