You could always cut the lamb into strips and make fajitas with the red peppers, courgettes and onions. Serve with tortilla wraps, salsa and grated cheese - yummy!

Or if they are leg steaks, with bone in, you can do a delicious osso-bucco style dish. Let me know if you'd like me to post the recipe.

  • Similar idea: Marinade in olive oil mixed with some sweet paprika, grill them then cut into slices and serve in warm pitta breads with tatziki or homous, lettuce, tomatoes.

With pleasure ! Here goes (recipe is for 2)

    1) Coat the lamb steaks in a little seasoned flour
    2. Fry on both sides in butter or marge, about 5 mins each side, turn from time to time
    3) Meanwhile, chop an onion, a carrot or 2 and a piece of celery.
    4) Add to the meat and fry along with it for about 3 mins
    5) Add a crushed clove of garlic
    6) Then add some dry white wine (75 ml), and simmer uncovered for 5 mins
    7) Take the steaks out of the pan and add 300 ml passata (or chopped tomatoes), a piece of lemon zest, 50 ml stock and a teaspoon of marjoram or oregano.
    8) Return the steaks to the pan and simmer covered on a low heat for 1.5 hr (I do this in the pressure cooker in about 25 mins)
    9) Make a mixture of parsley, another crushed garlic clove and grated lemon rind (the rest of the lemon you took the piece of zest off)
    10) Add this mixture just before serving

Great with rice or pasta! This can easily be made a day in advance and reheated (but don’t add the parsley mix yet). I also guess it will work very well in a slow cooker if you have one of those.

A really delicious coating for barbecued or even grilled lamb steaks is to mix together equal quantities of redcurrant jelly and red wine vinegar. Either coat the steaks immediately before grilling/barbecuing or, if you have time, let the lamb steaks marinate in it for a couple of hours or so.

  • Coated in wholegrain mustard and demerara sugar then grilled, would go lovely with roasted vegetables. Mmmmmmmmmmm!

(makes a mess of the grill pan though :rotfl: :rotfl: )

    Good afternoon all :)

I have bought some lamb steaks which we are going to have with veg and new potatoes.

Rather than just grill panning the steak is there anything else i can do to it? Or a nice sauce that goes well with lamb steaks?

I am not very experienced with lamb :o

Although we have fresh rosemary in the garden if i cna make anything with that too?

    Thanks :o
