Inspire me lamb steaks?

I have some in the fridge and am going to make a hotpot later.
I don't use a recipe but this is what I do
Cut up the lamb to bite sized pieces (tends to be small because 2 people here have small bites)
Thinly slice potatoes, skin on
Thinly slice onion
Thinly sliced carrots (i cut them on the diagonal so they are bigger than rounds)
layer up in an oven dish. Make up 2 tsp of cornflour and slowly add hot lamb stock (I prefer knorr). stir in some mixed herbs and black pepper and pour over the dish. I cover it and remove the cover 20 minutes before its finished, dot with butter and pop back into the oven
As for cooking times, I find this varies a lot but usually cook it at around 200c for 60-90 mins til potatoes are soft.0 -

Just popped one in the oven now for later
I got the lamb steaks from Mr T 3 meat packs for £10. (got a huge chicken, the leg steaks and a gammon joint)
The lamb will do the 3 of us for 2 meals with brocolli on the side.
Yes, i finish with a layer of potatoes0 -
I really should get some of the 3 for £10 offers but I have a teeny freezer and there is only myself and DS so it would take us an age to get through it all!! I might see if mum and dad have a bit of space in their spare freezer for me to store some stuffEmma

We bought some reduced lamb leg steaks at Waitrose yesterday (down from £5.80 to £2.90), and I have marinated them for kebabs.
Cut the lamp steaks into one inch pieces (or bite size).
For the marinade:
In a pyrex bowl, put one tablespoon olive oil, a little salt and black pepper to season, juice of half a lemon, a touch of chilli powder, one teaspoon of Tandoori Masala powder, one crushed garlic clove.
Put the lamb into the bowl and coat liberally with the marinade.
Place in the fridge for at least six hours (overnight is better).
I put the lamb on skewers and grill for around 15 minutes under a hot grill, turning regularly.
The meat should be really tender, mainly because of the lemon juice.0 -
I've done a recipe a couple of times, which is lovely.
Marinate the lamb steaks in chilli flakes, mint, garlic and olive oil.
Cook some pearl barley in boiling salted water for 20-30 mins and a couple of minutes before it's done add some froxen peas.
When it's done, drain it and add red onion, mint, zest and juice of a lemon and a little olive oil if it needs it.
Cook the lamb in a griddle pan (I like it pink) and serve on top of the pearl barley salad with the juices poured over the top.
It's based on a good food recipe ( http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/518643/marinated-lamb-steaks-with-barley-salad ) and I've also adapted it for pork steaks - marinating them in garlic and sage; then doing the pearl barley salad with a little garlic, shallots (fried together for a couple of mins), sage and peas. It feels like a rather decadent meal but apart from the meat doesn't cost a lot!0 -
That sounds nice Juby.
I would serve a grilled lamb steak (rubbed with garlic before cooking) with a minted bean salad as follows:
Fry 1 red onion and 1 red pepper, both finely chopped, gently in a little olive oil. Drain and add 2 tins of cannelini beans, 1 tbsp chopped mint and a good squeeze of lemon juice. Season well and serve.Skint but happy with my lovely family
Hypnotherapy rocks :j0
