Glad to see you back safe and sound caz :) as you can tell we were all very worried :(

I think once I get dressed and have a shower (not in that order lol) I'll probably get round to list a few things on ebay as haven't had a chance to do any for ages and have stuff to get shifted and money to get added to my baby fund ;)

Also going to do an order on Verbaudet - have a £10 off and free delivery thingy so beign as there is an up to 70% sale on I might as well use them :)

  • Oh gosh Helen, you're right at the end of October... Won't be long before we have November babies on the list... Feel like I'm shooting up the list now...

I'm contemplating taking Aimee swimming today... No lesson this week but she might appreciate a bit of a splash around... And seeing as she's 4 for another 4 weeks we'll still get away with a toddler price...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

    Hiya all MSE devotees.

My partner and I are expecting a beautiful little girl in a couple of weeks. Yay!

But, with huge outgoings, it's going to be very very difficult to keep our heads above water. Are finances are ticking along ok, paying off debt as we go, but my partners maternity pay is a bit of a drop in income, as well as not being entitled to any child tax credits, soley based on our income, what about our expenditure? This isn't even accounted for! For someone who as paid in to the system all my working life and not to get the help which others do really annoys me.

Is there anything we can do? Anyone else to turn to for financial support?

    All suggestions welcome...

    Much love MSE

Hi Congratulations on the pregnancy, and I'm bet you are excited to be meeting your little girl soon:)

Obviously you haven't told us your income/outgoing details, but can I suggest you go over to the DFW board and post up a SOA (statement of affairs) they are great and will be able to advise on how you can cut your expenditure so you can manage whislt she is on reduced income. This could mean paying all your debtors less, for the time she is on maternity leave also things like off roading a 2nd vehicle, getting rid of sky tv etc.....

The problem is these days, loads of people live to their means, so if there is any change in income they have nothing to play with. Not a criticism btw, just a fact of life! It really is a case of trying to reduce your outgoings I think:)

Good Luck with the rest of the pregnancy and the birth. I hope you pop in to let us know how it all went and your baby girls name:D

  • Morning all :)

So glad to come back to happy news that everything is fine with Caz! Sending lots of labour vibes.

I'm fine, Birthday improved greatly. Went home to visit family, and had a kebab, a steak, a cinnamon cake (made by my Dad!) and a chocolate birthday cake. And some parkin (weird Northern thing, but nice).

Getting all sorts of weird pains and aches, and blood sugar levels are all over the place, which is the reason for me going all funny and getting all emotional. Its weird, when I'm fine I feel so silly for how upset I get! I just go all tired and miserable, and eveything is horrible and awful and I just want to sit and cry.

FIL isn't very well still :( Which is hard for OH, he wants to help but isn't really anything we can do. My Nan isn't that well either. She is 90, and lives in a flat in a retirement community. They have a warden for emergencies, but apart from the Social Services care to get her out of bed, and to put her to bed, she doesn't have any care. She doesn't want to go to a care home type place at all, but is struggling a bit. She is as sharp as anything, but her legs don't work very well. Very sad :(

I don't know if its being pregnant, but I seem to be acutely aware of people dying. Does anyone else feel almost responsible? Its as if by bringing this new life into the world, I'm pushing someone else out.
    Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.

Hi Helen congratulations on the BFP...

On the name front, I think we are going to let the three names circulate inside our heads for a bit and see how we feel in a couple of days.

Thank you. It's something we are looking in to, but ideally something we would not rather do. Oh well.... thanks for the help though
I know - it was not something I was relishing either :( Unfortunately if you have checked and you're still earning too much to be eligible for anything (I am assuming btw you have checked on www.entitledto.co.uk I think it is) to make sure you're not missing out on anything? Most of it won't be until the baby has arrived more than likely...

I appreciate that with entering an IVA it's a different situation and I was lucky enough to be able to start putting savings by early on and plan a little for this. Is there any work that your wife could do like Avon, betterware etc after the baby arrives?

  • I quite like Logan but would never use it... My ex used to tell me if we had a boy together it would be called Xavier-Logan... Just as well we never had children together ay ;)

And FG... When I told my Nan I was pregnant again she went off on a tangent how it was a '1 in 1 out' system and her time was coming... I think she's just a little derranged... The year Aimee was born we had 3 babies born into the family and nobody died that year... Let alone 3....
