This is a very long thread and so Im sure its full of people who are experts in all things to do with pregnancy. My DIL is just 5 weeks pregnant, our first grandchild, 30 years ago I got free dental care and I think free prescribtions is this still the case and can she claim anything else? she has a low paid job and its temporary too.
    thanks

all the various benefits and grants are detailed here: Expecting or bringing up children : Directgov

When she has her booking in appointment with the midwife she will hopefully get a folder made by the FSA with lots of info and guides to budgeting etc

:j Its about time we got cheerful Feelie back :D
My hubby won't sit with me and feel :( He keeps being a bit funny about this baby which I find worrying but I hope its just that he is worried about paying for all of us and I know he's worried that he can't love another as much as Chris (Bless)

have you thought about the driving lessons or are you waiting until you've got the being a mum thing sorted?

 hello AF lurking in the shadows :)

Well, unfortunately, the seatbelt in my KA won't go around me any more now I'm the size of a hippo, so I'm putting it on hold till I've had the baby! I'm not in too much of a rush to get driving, hopefully will be doing a fair bit of walking (hence the expensive pram!) at first, so I can shift a bit of weight. I'll do it eventually!

My Dad was a funny one with pregnancies - his friends at work didn't know my Mum was pregnant until he announced I was born (I'm No. 2 aswell!). He just didn't 'get' pregnancy. OH doesn't either really, its only by force I can get him to feel. He is really scared about hurting the baby!

Talking of not being able to love another baby as much, I know it isn't the same, but thats the reason why I've only got one rabbit. Couldn't imagine splitting my time between two :o I would have been okay though, this rabbit doesn't like me all that much. He is not an affectionate bunny! Neither is the cat. I wonder if its me, and the baby will ignore me when he is here!

Men are funny creatures aren't they?!

See I "just know" I have an endless supply of love to give out to whom or what ever I can :D Growing up I had (not all at the same time I might add!!) 2 guinea pigs, 3 ferrets, 3 rabbits, 2 gerbils, a hamster, 8 dogs, numerous stick insects & fish, about eight litters of puppies and one litter of ferrets!!!
 god in a list like that it seems like we had a zoo!

Did you/ hubby pick the rabbit and cat? I ask because maybe you always pick animals with a certain personality

I always pick the puppy that is too busy playing to care that someone is around at first but then once the commotion is over they come and investigate (coz that's what I'd do) My dog Meg is just like a doggy version of me :D

I found it interesting that when the in-laws got their cats they got one each FIL went for a little ginger one that liked to sit on ur shoulder like a parrot and was very affectionate and MIL got one that was shy and quite and had a fault with it's tail that meant he couldn't be used for showing (and was therefore half price!)

I think I've seen the Avent version in asda or tesco too. They are known usually as "Breast Shells"

    EDIT - here's the Avent ones http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10751&langId=-1&productId=9905&source=froogle&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-Shopping%20Sites-_-CPC-_-Froogle
