s-m, I can't believe that there are parents like it. I have spent all my adult life creating my own family to make up for it. My mum has been with step-dad for about 10 years. About 9 years ago after a birthday meal he came on to me, I was mortified. The next day I got a call from my mumsaying that she knew what had happened but not to tell anyone as she couldn't afford for him to leave. She has never had a proper job so he was a meal ticket. Over the years I has very little contact, in between calls moaning about how he had broken her ribs etc, etc. Oh, and she was upset as I didn't turn up to the wedding 3 years ago. Then last September she rings saying she's has the police out and he's charged with assault and rape, I offer for her to stay and any other help only to find after 2 months she decided not to take it further and now he's back. I thought there was hope that we might have a relationship. Huh, stupid me!

Oh my gosh, I am so full.. had three full courses - much to the amusement of my Dad and OH! :o
    ...
When he's just being annoying, I just ignore him for a while. It does help that he has his computer room which he often disappears to - sometimes out of choice, sometimes cos he's staying out of my way. Could never have a second child whilst living in this house - he would be a nightmare if he had to give up his beloved computer room and spend all his time in the living room with me! ;)
This is the ONLY reason I have agreed that hubby can get a HDTV in our new bedroom (if we ever get the room sorted:rolleyes:) :rotfl:

tara sounds like my parents and your parents would get on well my mother using my step dad as a meal ticket to but in a different way shes a serious gambler and he keeps taking out loans to cover her debt let time i knew they owed about 20k but that was about 4 years ago ... i tried making it work with my mother for the sake of my DD but it didnt last so in the end i gave up and cut off contact ... shes found out i was pregnant threw members of family and tried contacting me on FB ... not interested... i think tara that when it comes to it we just have to learn from there mistake yes were also not perfect but we give more and know theres more out there.. dont be backed in the corner as i said before you are special and more out there just gotta ask x

That is awful! It must be so hard to still feel love for your mum but have to leave her to it :(

Sami, I can honestly say I feel no love for her. Just a curiosity of what it might be like to have a mum. Someone to tell if you have a bad day, someone to tell when something great happens. Trouble is it goes through all my relationships apart from my kids. Not sure how to love and trust people, not at ease with them and always wonder what they want from me.
