Big hugs for Tara, sorry it went badly, but you take care of yourself and bubs.
slscarborough, I'm hoping you just have white coat hypertension hunDon't worry about being induced at 36 weeks, I was induced at 35 with DS1. Leave a list for OH, head to tesco for their own brand premature nappies (best I found) and buy a few early baby size sleepsuits, vests and forget the scratch mits, use socks instead. Keep your bag packed and ready and be prepared for LO to be in SCBU for a few days, but it's NOT scary, honest.
Congratulations Jamz!
Redmel, thats horrible about the alledged fraud, hope it gets sorted out!
Feel very sick again this morning, but wasn't actually sick as I didn't drink anything. Looked everywhere for travel sickness bands, Boots is out and my two local chemists don't stock them. Also, I need to find a small bucket for in the car. Have to take DS1 to school and DS2 to nursery in the next town which means a good 45mins round trip in the car due to traffic. This seems to be 'normal' ms, so does it peak at 9 weeks and then ease off by 12??? Please? I'm back to college on Monday and as I will be taking next year off I don't want to fail my course
And also I am maybe a little bit obsessed with my BP, it was 150/99 this morning!!!! So I sat down, had food, peppermint tea (didnt help ms) and it went down to 133/87. Tried the angelsounds doppler, heard a sort of bubbly swoosh that made me think of a waterfall... but I may just have imagined it! :rotfl:
DH seems to be getting a little more excited too, he can now have a conversation about the baby without mentioning what he will do to my corpse if he dies. He is ever the optomist :cool:0 -
elle - I have been in quite a few jacuzzis and hot tubs whilst pregnant, was in one last Friday.
I have had a good long look for medical evidence to suggest otherwise but I don't think there is any (IMHO). Maybe Weasl can point us to some.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
AF - the policy here is they book you in for inducement about 10-14 days after your EDD, but it does depend on your circumstances. They wouldn't induce you earlier than that unless there was a medical reason for it. Don't worry about baby being too big. I was 6lb 10oz and I was three weeks (21 days) overdue . They had to try to induce my mum three times before I finally came out and she doesn't recommend it :rotfl: but went on to have two more babies and SB has been induced (twice i think) and she survived the experience so it can't be that bad
I want to avoid induction - which is why I'm happy to try a sweep first (although the idea isn't appealing at all). I've never had an internal examination of any kind before  so I'm finding that a bit of a scary prospect - any tips ladies?r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

I checked this with my MW about this as my parents have a pool/jacuzzi/sauna etc (they live in a type 1 neighbourhood) and I didn't want to put bubbs at risk. She said that the things to be careful of are:
1.heat of the water - don't let yourself get too hot. other than that pools and jacuzzi's and hot tubs are fine.
2.don't use a sauna or steam room it's too hot for baby
3.just be careful of water you aren't sure of re: cleanliness

Rmac i had a sweep and it wasn't bad at all but on the other hand it didn't work either!
I did have something done to me which involved a thing which looked an awful lot like a knitting needle, but I didn't see it until afterwards which is a good thing!
That probably wasn't very helpful was it? I'll go awayMFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -
We have a jacuzzi bath at home McSmiler
which I have far too hot I am sure and the jets hit me where they want to and make Bubba dance!! But at least I am sure the water is clean :rotfl:
As for your internal...lie back and think of England???
Where abouts are you giving birth? I mean as in what room??please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
r.mac, I had a sweep last time as I wanted a home birth. I was overdue and when midwife came I was already a bit dilated. Sweep wasn't so bad, better than the pessary in hospital by some bloke! After she left (it was about 12pm) I stayed on my feet, eventually doing circuits of the coffee table. First pain about 2.30 ish but only slight. First proper contraction that hurt was 3.45. All over by 5pm. Stay on your feet as long as possible and good luck.
Soooo exciting!!!Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
I'm normally a 32E (so not a small girl anyway) and when I went to be measured again earlier in the week, I was a 34G  I was so embarrassed I pretended to the fitter that I was about 10 weeks, rather than just 5.
I was surprised to find that you can apparently now continue to wear underwires provided they are properly fitted. I ended up with 3 underwired ones, which are extremely comfortable and supportive. Mind you, when I tried them on, I did turn to the fitter and say "Not very attractive, are they?" and she grimaced and said "That's what it's going to be like for you for the forseeable future!"
Oh Nicki don't say these things! I am 5" and weight 8 stone, 2 years ago I was a 32H and after op 1 went down to a 32E/F (still too big for my frame) and then after op 2 went down to a much more manageable 32D. I can already feel my scars stretching at 6 weeks + 1 (can't forget the one!) so am hoping and praying they won't go back to a H cup. Although on saying to my GP 'Oh, the ops were probably a waste of time' (secretly thinking she would say oh no) she said yes, you could be right
Really hope that no matter how big they go - they get smaller again afterwards. It's not funny having boobs that are bigger that your head!!!!
Hello to everyone
r.mac - best tip I can offer for internal exams is just relax - seriously.
Had terrible MS this morning - OMG was dry heaving for ages! Think OH thought I was being a hypo until I started bringing up bile (SORRY TMI I KNOW!!!!)A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
I'm only going to have it if baby is fully engaged and cervix in the right 'place'. I wasn't totally engaged last week, so we'll just have to wait and see what MW says.
the crochet hook/knitting needle is for breaking your waters I think. I will be avoiding that one for another wee while (i'm only 6 days over)r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
see girls, you have all put my minds at rest now re 'big babies' when going over your due date. okay. i am happy now to think i might be pregnant for 8 weeks still.
to be honest, and i know i am not at the end yet, i have really enjoyed being pregnant and not sure how i am going to feel not being pregnant, although i imagine having a newborn will soon put that thought to the back of my mind.
MFD - will be interesting to see what hubby thinks after the antenatal classes. i am surprised he is coming actually as he is very shy with people he doesn't know, but if he knows you, hold on to yourself becuase he will take the mick out of you any way he can.
good thought re dinner after so you can have a chat about it without any interuptions.0
