This is a real help, my IBS is a bit here and there at the moment with the amount of fibre I'm feeding my belly (I just can't have a lot). I was diagnosed 6 years ago, and it's the only thing I've been able to pinpoint - that and spicy foods.

I haven't had a drop of red wine for ages, but have a lot of pasta :o(

Dh and dd are making me feel really bad, as I already said its my birthday on saturday and he wants to take me out for a meal, there is nowhere local that does vegan food and steak and chips which is all he ever eats when we go out  so Ive told him we cant go out to eat made other suggestions like would he like to cook me a nice meal at home ? he said no way, I dont know how to cook that crap you eat ! so then dd gets in on the act and said Mum he wants to take you out for a meal, can you just go back to eating veggie food for one night  their making me feel really guilty , Im quite upset about the whole thing, we never usually go out to eat anyway and didnt do anything for his birthday so I dont know what the big deal is anyway.
Sorry to winge, but no one else would understand how I feel except another vegan.

Sorry but they're being waaaaaay out of order here! They need to respect your choices, and it's hardly going to be a pleasurable experience for you to eat something you don't want to is it? We don't go out to eat on our birthdays either. My DH's idea of me having the night off cooking is to get a bag of chips (and I don't even like chippy chips!) so I just cook as normal.

Are there any half decent hotels nearby? I've found that hotel chefs trip over themselves with the challenge of creating a tasty vegan meal. They always forget about the desert though  lol

Do you have a weatherspoons pub nearby?

    http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/

They do a vegan sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry (ordered without naan bread) and steak and chips for your man!
    Hope you sort something out.

you could try calling ahead a restaurant and ask them if they will cater for you... often it's just changing or omitting one ingredient??

To ask you to be veggie is ridiculous even if it is just one meal...
you made a choice they have to respect it!
