I just remembered what I came on here for
it's my birthday on Saturday and my ds2 and his girlfriend have rang and want to come round Friday evening to bring my pressie round, they said we can have a takeaway and make a night of it  what can I eat ? theres a chinese and an Indian up the road from me, I dont like anything too hot and spicy, any suggestions ?
What about tofu in blackbean sauce and plain boiled rice? Think indian may be more difficult as lots of places use ghee. Maybe you could ring them and ask first?
M&S indian selection is vegan, as are ASDA onion bargies(spelling?!) if you really want indian.0 -
Hiya Joyful, nice to have you back. I think Animal aid are in Chelmsford to campaign against the horse racing, I read something about it on the website last night, they are holding a funeral for all the horses that have died there, it's shocking how many.
Aah, thanks suep. Well, I went over there, the stall was outside Lush. It was a lovely, quietly spoken local guy and he was offering decent chunks of Redwood chorizo, chicken and sausage. I also got a free badge with an 'L-plate veggie on', and a booklet of Animal Aid recipe ideas (which I think you can get from the website.....there were allegations that a member of Lush staff was dressing up as a carrot, but I didn't hang about...it was extremely low key which I thought was a shame in one way, but then also if it had been all-out over the top, not necessarily the best advert for veganism in my eyes.
So it was onto Superdrug and I want to give Morrell a big gold star hug!I spent just under £6 on:
One bath creme, two-for-£1.69 shower creme, two-for-£1.69 handwash (all rose and lychee), Naturals boday lotion (olive), £1.47. A no-fuss shop (although I did check out Naturals shampoos and disappointed to see none vegan. I rarely have baths so that will last me for ever, and handcreme is for two loos so there'll last forever too....
Bought some Jus Rol and a courgette in prep for making a quiche....didn't get round to it tonight, so perhaps tomorrow for dinner, with l/overs for lunch.
Any other pastry-based recipes would be gratfeully received.
Next shop, I'm bagging some digestives and making me a cheesecake!!
SWEDISH GLACE ALERT
I have been a promoter of what is the best ice cream ever. Didn't even know they did other flavours! :j0 -

:rotfl: Welcome Vegansaver :hello: .
Thank you for the welcome and a very happy birthday in advance. :beer:VeganClaire wrote: »Me too! I'm the only vegan I know in real life! So nice to have a board of other like-minded people
Yikes  Life is so much better when you know a vegan or two. I use to hate popping round friends and having nothing suitable to eat or drink round there.
You're more than welcome to invite us all round for dinner.0 -
There is also a neapolitan version, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry in one pot. They sell it in tesco. In our tesco its not next to the vanilla its next to the dairy neapolitan.
In our sainsburys we can get chocolate or vanilla.
Have to go to Holland and barrett for raspberry.
But unfortunately can't get there choc covered lollies or there blueberry ice cream anywhere local.

:rotfl: Welcome Vegansaver :hello:
Fernlibee, sorry the names confusing, its nothing to do with normal cystitis, its inflammation of the lining of the bladder, theres no infection, its realy painful and I cant eat and drink certain things that make it flare up like citrus fruits, tomatoes, caffiene and alcohol. Its a chronic disorder, but Im having treatment at the hospital for it.
Ouchy! Poor you! Hope it improves soon, problems like that really get you down! I found when I had thrush while pregnant you just cannot get comfy but it's too embarrasing to say why!!:o Prob best not to try anything new re. mooncup until your feeling better I would have thought.0 -
Thanks for the nice comments and yes it would be nice if i could take you shopping!!
Always here for virtual help anyway.
I enjoyed doing the superdrug research, as would of got full descriptions if the shop wasn't closing. Perhaps I should research a shop a week and see what i can find, if anything!
Just added my picture to my blog, as bit scary letting everyone reading see who I am!!

Blueberry is there latest flavour. Unfortunately there was more flavours that got discontinued, hope this doesn't get discontinued before I get to try it. It came out last summer, but I have only seen it when I visited chesterfield for the day and it would of melted before getting home and although i could of eaten it all, there was so many vegan savories and cakes in the shop, I went for them instead.
You can make mint chocolate chip using the vanilla and adding choc chips and mint flavouring. I also make a rum and raisin flavour using the vanilla as a base. The vanilla is a great base for lots of flavours. I know that in the banana book i am working on I have come up with many flavours using the banana based icecream, so there is no reason not too.
On the swedish glaze website there is two recipes
apple turnovers and raspberry horns using puff pastry for both.
