The German Vegetarian Society
(https://www.vebu.de) are running a course for vegetarians interested in becoming
vegan, which is being funded through an EU grant. If you like the sound of
a free trip to Berlin, travel and expenses paid, then please contact Bron or
Kati for more details...

Subject: Course on vegan living

Vegetarierbund (the German equivalent of the Vegetarian Society) is planning
to run a week long course in January 2011 in Berlin for anyone who is
vegetarian but would like to become vegan. If you would like to attend you
can apply for funding from the European Union to cover all your travel costs
and to pay the course fees and Vegetarierbund will help you fill in the
application. (I have a copy of the course description mentioned below but
as it's in pdf format, I can't post it to the list. If you would like a
copy, please contact me on bron@vegsoc.org - don't hit the reply button!):

The next (small) project the Vegetarierbund envisioned is a course that
every one of you can take part in. Each participant will get us 750 Euro and
each participant will receive travel costs, a very generous daily grant and
additional preparation money: A win-win situation :)

Only problem: Up to the 15th of September we will have to get together at
least 50 applications, preferably 8 from England ;) We prepared a
description of the course, which I hope will sound promising enough for
people to become interested. Could you send this invitation round through
your channels and media platforms?

I really should suggest it Sandra but because I haven't met them yet I don't want to be pushy. They do seem to have all sorts of meetups though - there just hasn't been the right thing at the right time so far ... but there will be soon I'm sure!

I just noticed that one of the blogs I follow is by a vegan in Dublin. Here is her link. There is lots of useful links down the right hand side, such as the irish vegan society and other irish vegan blogs. Her most popular post is "Being a vegan in Dublin"

Thanks a milllion Sandra - you really are a star! :T I found that there is a Yah00 Irish vegan group so will join that too. The Veg Soc seems very nice too really and are active with their meetups so I'm feeling a bit less like The Only (wannabe) Vegan in the Village! :)
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I was reading about Chelsea Clinton's wedding today - I didn't know that she's been a vegan for 10 years!

I discovered Astonish 4 in 1 laundry liquid the other day in our supermarket. I don't know if it's a new product, or just new over here, but thought I'd let other people know if they are interested.

The Vegan Pledge
The Vegan Society offers a Vegan Pledge scheme for non-vegans who would like to try veganism for one week, fourteen days or one month. We are offering mentors, a vegan pledge pack with recipes and guidance and plenty of support.

I didn't know she was vegan either.

Good that a supermarket is stocking it. I only ever see it in home bargains. I used to use it when it was 3 in 1, but don't like the smell since they have changed the formula! My MIL and BIL still use it though.

hello everyone:smiley:
I have been a Vegetarian for over 25 yrs,but had a bit of a break when I became anaemic and started eating chicken. I am now back to being vegetarian again, have been for past 3 mths, and gradually becoming Vegan, I have started with using Pure for my Marg, and Sainsburys Soya milk.
My hubby is also Vegetarian, and has trouble with cheese tho-we have tried a few Veggy ones but they were rank! My 10 yr old boy is half and half at them mo, but my 6 yr old daughter is quite determined to be a vegetarian, so we are trying our best as a family.
We are both so committed now, and my cousin in Vegan, so get some help/advice from her, and now I have found this thread I can read through at my leisure, Thanks guys!

Do you think adding a little chicken or bacon will improve them.
