Thanks Twinkle - you are indeed a star! I was hoping to bake today but will probaby be Thurs before I get the chance.

Could anyone tell me brands of vegan marg/spread to look out for? I know some non-dairy brands had non-vegan vit D or something added so am a bit confused about what I should be buying!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

'Pure' is vegan. Tomor is a hard vegan marg. If you want white fat (for pastry maybe?) then I think all the white veg ones are vegan.

Vitalite is now vegan (months ago I posted and it wasn't but it now proudly says it is). I think Sainsburys do an own-brand vegan margarine

Thanks for the info folks ... it's such a minefield, isn't it? I remember reading about the vitalite while trying to read through this whole thread but it wasn't in the supermarket anyway. I got Pure and have some Biona olive spread too. Must get some of the white stuff too for pastry.

Anyone want to share what vegan washing up liquids they are using. The last 2 I bought that were labeled vegan in morrisons and sainsburys have now been discontinued due to insufficient demand apparently and with ecover no longer being vegan, there seems to be getting less and less choice. Do co-op still do one? I can make a special trip there and stock up if so. It was so much easier when I used to buy a years worth from a veggie wholesalers.

    Thanks in advance

The Co-op one is still vegan as far as I know, but I don't use that one as it wrecks my hands. I use the Clearspring one which I buy from the health food shop. It's lovely and gentle on my skin but is really effective at cleaning the dishes. It's about £2.15 a bottle but lasts ages as I only put a little squirt of it into the sink.

I will see if I can source it somewhere, all the health food stores locally seem to sell ecover! Still I like days out and will always look in a healthfood store!

If anyone is interested in some (between 5 and 11) free downloadable dessert recipe, see the latest post on my blog for details.

I downloaded that ebook the other day - costs £7.32. Americans seem to use a lot of applesauce in their recipes though!

Thanks I did wonder how much it would be in pounds to download. Have you tried any recipes yet. I downloaded the freebies as I wanted to try some before buying. They all look so good mind!

I haven't tried any recipes yet, but I do want to try some over the summer holidays. You can get the real book, but I think it was $19.99 (plus postage).

I quite fancy making the doughnuts!
