  • Some good news on the car front.

Just had service and MOT done and it came in at £161. I budgeted a tight £200 so I'm really happy it's come in under. Wooh hooh!:D

This is the forth service and MOT I've had with no problems. Only issue I've ever had is having to change the starter motor and a couple of punctures.

It's a T reg Vauxhall Astra and its done me good. It's an ex company fleet vehicle so was also very well maintained.

Lets hope I can get a few more years out of it. Only 68.5k mile on the clock.

So, come on guys place your bets! How long will it last :rotfl:

If it is not costing a lot then that is good news; I'd anticipate that corrosion may get it before reliability. We ran a Cavalier up to 148,000 miles and it never even needed oil topping up between services! It did however develop significant corrosion around a rear suspension mount - once you have that in the chassis etc it can become costly plus I then have concern over structural integrity.

If you want a guess, I'd suggest 4yrs, but save to plan to replace it in 2
  • Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, you know I was just saying how well things were going with the car

Next door have just hit our car. Picture this, we have parking out the back off our house with an area shaped like a big flat based U. I was parked next to the curb on the left hand side of the U facing upwards. She was parked in one of the spaces along the bottom of the U facing down.

She then reverses out, turns the wheels, her front drivers side wheel arch then gets caught on my rear drivers side wheel arch.

It's taken a tinny bit of paint off, but nothing to get concerned about.

The alomst funny thing is her whole front wing is hanging off :rotfl:

There not in, but she's dropped a note though the door about me giving her my details. It did look REALLY bad at first but all of the paint from her car went on mine and then rubbed straight off :D

I've checked everything very thoroughly (even took the wheel off) and all seems OK. I guess it wouldn't be as much stress on the wheel as hitting say a pothole.

Think I can say I got off lightly here. Her car has not :p

Dare I say it "women drivers" :p Don't shoot me down all at once :rotfl:

  • I'd get it checked by a pro... you never know when these things will return. Like when my friend got rear shunted with no visable damage. A couple of months later she had a flat tyre but the shunt had bent the casing round the spare in the boot and she couldn't get it out!

I agree there's a certain amount of guilty satisfaction when the one at fault is worse off. Like the lady that opened her car door into mine. I thoroughly checked mine and told her to be more careful. She replied, yes I should, I've chipped the paint on mine and yours is fine!

Still a very honest neighbour, I'm sure it'll get sorted.

Glad your car is ok :)

Bit of an update for you peeps.

Just had my last AAT (association of accounting technicians) exam thismorning. Had one on Monday as well.

Feel they both when well so am feeling relieved now. Results aren't until August though.

No rest for the wicked though, moving onto the ACA (Institute of chartered accountants in England and Wales) in september. I get quite a few exemptions from doing the AAT but it's still going to be very tough.

Just got some correspondence through from my water in and out companies.

Water in DD now set at £6.50 :D
Water out DD now set at £10 :D

I have a ~£40 refund coming through from the water out and some from the water in.

My water in online statement is rubbish and the lady I rang said I have ~£90 coming in the post. This roughly equates to my balance in January plus the payments since them. Methinks they having produced an up to date bill  Will see when it comes in the post. Not complaining, I'll just clear the debt on the next bill they do raise (or wait for them to ask for it).

I'm very very please with the water out company actually (well done anglian water). They rang me up and said as we use so little, you can go on a single persons tariff :D She also backdated it to Jan :T Well chuffed :p

On the life cover front, having some difficulty here. OH has been having some epilepsy tests (she had a fit during the night twice :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: did scare me. One was before and just after christmas and nothing has happended since :T). Legal and general won't take us until she has had a final report etc done. Will have to stay with halifax for probs another 3 months now. Shame as the new one is waaaaaaaaay cheaper.

On the gas and leccy side of things. Still on target to have the £200 credit balance at the end of this month.

Actually found a way to use even less gas. When we run a bath, it takes about 20 mins to run (old peeps put a pressure reducing value under the bath which is then all tiled up so can't get any access ). Having a shower means the combi boiler is on for less time. Guess 5 mins a time. So half the cost and also uses less water I pressume.

Back to the mortgage now! Gonna go for a balance of £132k on 1st July methinks.

Hmm, need to post less more often :rotfl:

OK I've decided to voice the master plan :D

The BIG plan decided between me and OH is to be MF by the age of 27. She can then stop working and have children :eek::eek: Can't beleive we've spoke about that

Hi there, just wanted to say congrats on having had 'the talk' and for both being so committed to becoming MF before starting a family - you're an inspiration to me, and I'm twice your age!!

    Good luck!!
