I've got the Amex cashback card - would it be worth trying for one of those? Not taken everywhere like egg but only the odd place have refused it :j

Just been on the phone to Egg as I wanted to up my credit limit.

    a) had it for 7 months
    b) paid off in full each month
    c) salary has increase since when I opened

Just wanted to up it a bit to cover full monthly spend to max out my cashback potential (as egg money).

    Existing credit limit £500
    Requested credit limit £1,500

    DECLINED :mad::mad::mad:

Wow, I hadn't really thought that they would offer such a low limit; certainly wouldn't cover my expenses in some months for work which alone can be £2500. Did they advise whether it was the need for a little more historical proof or more fundamental than that? In the former case it may simply be they want to see you run the card for 12months?

Hoping you can get limit lifted quickly, my credit limit has slowly crept up over the years, not sure what they'd offer if I rang up to extend it, but it is adequate for our needs and allows us to maximise the offset each month. Even with high spend last month and this, inc expenses, there was still nearly £5k available on it today.

I know. It must be because I'm 20 and have had the card for 7 months. They just kept coming up with the exuse that they can give any advice over the phone.

I've just closed by halifax CC as the 0% period ran out. This had a £2.5k limit which worked well. I'm hoping to get a new one with them in the near future with a bigger limit and stooze it against the mortgage :D Being I have my current a/c, savings, mortgage, old CC with them, I hope to get a very workable limit.

The egg money is a cashback credit card. I don't want to apply for another card as I want to keep my credit file clear for a bit.

    Thanks for the thought though.

  • OK I've decided to voice the master plan :D

FB you'll know what I'm talking about here :rotfl:

First things first, this is a prudent plan as I'm sure you all know, things can quite often not go the way you thought they would.

The BIG plan decided between me and OH is to be MF by the age of 27. She can then stop working and have children :eek::eek: Can't beleive we've spoke about that

This feels really good as I bet it would be brilliant to have children, only on one salary, and not have the worry of the mortgage.

From here, perhaps we'll save up another ~£100k or whatever on my salary to buy our 'home' house for cash, or at least with a very small mortgage. Prob a bit of both. Maybe £100k savings and £100k mortgage to get a very decent sized family home.

Uh oh, I voiced it
