Have you checked either of your credit files?

Not since applying no. Not signed up to one of these things that give you regular access

Doubtful. Not a huge fan of the CRAs as it is so unlikely to hand them cash every month just to see what items of MY personal data they are processing

I can totally understand your view.

I find it handy, especially when I'm trying to sort myself out.

I can see it's uses but cant justify the cost.

I get my report free each year from annual credit report. On that I found out that Lloyds TSB were still processing a default for 18 months following a court ordering its removal. A swift letter to them got it removed and £100 compo too.

Had I have caught it sooner through paying each month to experian or equifax I may not have got the £100 as it wouldn't have been on for 18 months.

Since it's removal I do seem to be being accepted for a few more things not to mention my now stupidly high JD Williams limit

I have a default for about 5 and a half years which is updated every month. Will I need to pay this of before it will go away?

No, it will dissapear after 6 years and 1 day - paid or not.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
