It may help NID if he also reads this:-

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/banksandfinance/2790973/Royal-Bank-of-Scotland-to-sell-its-stake-in-Tesco-bank.html

Just because something comes out of the card processing centre in Southend-on-Sea does not mean necessarily it is dealt with by RBS. The centre is not homohgenous it is made up of many different companies and departments all which have separate data controller registrations. Maybe using Hunter one will find out about another but not by direct contact.

Tesco cards are issued by Tesco Personal Finance a part of the Tesco Group, again they are the data controller.

Just because of a similarity in on-line application forms means nothing, Tesco use their own scorecard and if you are declined for a product in the RBS group you may well be accepted for a product in another part of the RBS group or indeed from a non RBS related company such as Tesco.

All I conceed is that at the moment they may have a contract with RBS to emboss cards and issue statements that does not make it an RBS group company, etc. etc.

Mate I am not going to tell you again - they are processed by the same system and to prove this simply click on the apply links I posted - the screens and addresses are identical..... I needn't say any more cos you my friend are a few months in credit lol

Maybe Tesco have got their licence but it takes ages to chamge and all i'm saying is that they currently use RBS systems - it is a fact - accept it.

Also, the card processing centre in Southend is the old Joint Credit Card Company that created Access back in 1972 by a consortium consisting of NATEST, RBS, Midland (hsbc) & Lloyds.

It is still used by these banks as their processing centre put primarily it is RBS as they were the original Access founder so they in essense owned the building(s) and rights of usage.

Mate, stop arguing - if you apply you'll see for yourself it is the same system as RBS. That is the way it is..... :rotfl:

I've just rung Tesco and they confirm that they are now independant but some of their products are still assessed using RBS systems. That said, they do use their own scorecard and criteria but it was always based loosly on the RBS original set-up.

She also confirmed that if I was declined for Tesco, I could be accepted by RBS but they share data processes within the group until migration is complete. This means that your application may be assessed by someone from the 'Centre' underwriting department who deal with a number of companies.

I dunno what to make of that but it definitely makes sense. So yes, savagej you are correct in what you;re saying but then so am I.

The process is not yet complete and online applications are still using old RBS systems but scored using Tesco criteria.

Hope that makes sense...... anyone want to check, give them a ring....

I'm only going on what the woman in HSBC told me cos I made it clear I did not want monthly credit searches done and I was told 'we only perform a credit search if you review your borrowing needs, in applying for an overdraft or any other lending increases'.

I am going on that convo mate and if you're saying my bank crddit check me monthly then why aint it showing on my file?

I understand what you're saying about when they get monthly updates but again, can't be accurate with HSBC cos my credit file is a right mess - trust me you aint seen one like it before - and I got 2 accounts with o/d & c/g with HSBC and two mainstream credit cards and a vanquis.

    Why is that then?

If your only going on what the woman at HSBC told you please don't rubbish other peoples posts so easily, and remember your never to old to learn something new.

I never said that your bank credit check you on a monthly basis, I stated that banks get a monthly data feed from the CRA's.

The feed gives the bank information on:

    Cifas

    Credit searches

    Available Credit

    Missed payments

    Arrangement to pay

    etc etc

Maybe HSBC's internal credit scoring is weighted more towards how you run your account? rather than the adverse information they recieve about you.

One more thing, I am aware that your credit file is a mess but IMHO that is to be expected from someone who makes 23 credit applications in one day.

Just had a phone call from underwriting at A&L. Because I have not been on the Electoral Roll for the last 3 years I have been declined. I am on the roll at my current address and for the last year at my previous address. She asked if I was registered at any other address to which I said, "no." She said that was probably why I didn't meet the score. She has passed this info onto the underwriters but I don't hold out much hope.

You applied for A&L as well then Cif? The Electoral Roll is key to an application then.

    Any communication from Flybe?
