It all depends, they are issued by BOI and they seem to send the CCA and Proposal but then do another manual check with underwriters after you sign and return the forms. My opinion, dont waste the cash getting ID verified unless you know you have a good credit file cos they can still come back and refuse you....
My bro applied, got declined, appealed, got forms to sign asking for ID, he returned it all, got another decline. He went mad saying how can I appeal, win the appeal to then be declined again - nothing changed since I won the appeal. They said sorry.
Just my opinion..... HTH - Good luck whatever you do2010 - year of the troll

NID has lauched the new thread I think it will be posted there. I haven't discuss it with him yet anyway so that is just an assumption. It needs to be somewhere where everyone can view it. It also needs to have good, clear instruction on the way to retreive the info...
Hi mate
Ok, quick update for you. I have tried to have the new thread uploaded and for reason the powers that be seem to think it is a copyright issue. I have explained that adding a few lines with appropriate links does not breach copyright but they don't seem interested.
Anyway, as a result I doubt i'll get the thread off the ground so instead, i'll be loading it and staying on CAG from now. This site is pretty dire in all honesty, lately it seems to have gone downhill.
I'll come back and update you where the CAG thread will be and this will have uploads (images) of all the SAR's I got back from all 7 companies. Therefore you'll see for yourself what data each holds.
Josh, they cannot withhold your info - if they do this then they are breaking the law and they would lose their DPA licence - I don't see them doing this, personally I think you'll see exactly what each holds about you.
Regards to payments, ok this gets technical and the following text may help to assist why the CRA's are not demanding a tenner:
Start at looking at this document for full details: http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/library/data_protection/detailed_specialist_guides/data_protection_act_legal_guidance.pdf
Quote from this document:
For ease of reference I have quoted below specific elements of Section 4.1 'Right of Subject Access' and highlighted the relevant information:
A data controller may charge a fee for dealing with subject access. Currently, the maximum fee chargeable is £10, or £2 if it is a request for limited information from a credit reference agency.
A data controller must comply with a subject access request promptly, in other words as quickly as he can, and in any event within forty days of receipt of the request or, if later, within forty days of receipt of –- the information required to satisfy himself as to the identity of the person making the request to enable him to locate the information which that person seeks;
and - the fee
So as you can see from the above, there is yet more hidden clauses that basically allow the CRA to dictate (yet again) to us what they want to do. They seem to be mixing DPA rules with ICO rules and because they adhere to both, they can use 'either / or' options which really leaves us open to abuse.
I made the decision to pay the tenner to them all, in doing so I know i'll get the info requested. If you do not want to then you should write and complain to the ICO advising that the CRA is playing silly beggars and demand they intervene and get your SAR issued for the sum of £2.2010 - year of the troll

No it isn't, I think it's fantastic. It's just not what you want it to be.never-in-doubt wrote: »lately it seems to have gone downhill.

Good luck over on CAG, I'll be interested to see what you turn up.
