Extremely strange as I always thought that whatever is on your credit file is exactly what the lenders see's.

I'm sure Proilant will look into this.

I just got this card, the gold mastercard. got declined, appealed and then got cca thru post last week. certified my passport at PO (should be #6.95 for 3 copies but most do it for free) and sent off to BOI.

Yesterday got home and found shiny gold card waiting for me, 3,800 limit on apr of 16.9%. I got a citi gold last week with a 2,000 limit (plus 5000 bonus miles) on apr of 17.1% i think it says. 5.8% on life of bt so I paid off the 250 vanquis limit - citi sent me a cheque payable to vanquis.

BOI done search with experian then follow-up (no credit card search, just previous address/identity) with equifax. dont use call credit so cant help with that one but they deffo search both (maybe cos ive not been at same address for 3yrs they used equifax?) the main cra's

My credit file is bad, have loads of defaults and gone aways and 2 cifas. had 3 cifas but got sygma taken off last week.

all my cc app's are declined at moment I press green button but I always appeal. must be lucky but ive just gotten myself 2 gold cards to go with my shiny vanquis...

oh! i also have a hsbc plus bank ac.

    Good morning
  • I applied for the Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo last night.. if nothing else it'll be a test of how much my credit has been "repaired" now I've dealt with as many of the issues with my files as I could.. probably should have waited until March though, damned itchy fingers!!
  • Firstly thank you to Underground for the help yesterday. Having stewed for a night, I think I have to deal with one thing at a time, and clearing debts and tidying up credit file comes first. I know me, and if I get myself in a tiz about too much, then I do have a tendancy to do a great impression of an ostrich, and I am ostrich no more!;)

That said, having got a bit over-excited about the full bank account success, I did apply for a Cap 1 card about a week ago. Did not expect anything but a big no thanks, but this morning got a letter asking for documents confirming details - is this good, or just standard procedure to be swiftly followed by a big juicy no?

    Hi sutton

This is exactly what I thought until fairly recently.

    Take a look at these:

    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/credit-reference-agencies/148597-n-hunter-limited-secret.html

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2008/nov/15/national-hunter-credit-agency

The worst thing about the N Hunter lot is the sort of information they hold on people, ie. salary, marital status, job details - and who knows what they're doing with that sensitive information? The CAG thread makes an interesting read.

And now apparently CIFAS markers are being kept secret too.

How is anyone supposed to improve their credit rating and correct errors if they don't have the full picture?

I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist but it's all a bit fishy!

    Hi

It looks promising with Capital One, I doubt they'd bother asking for further details if they weren't considering you. I'd say the reason they want more info is related to your address problem. What have they asked you to supply?

Have you got any further with getting your credit files?

Some peoples' CIFAS are showing on CRA's but Gazzys' CIFAS isn't.

    Very disturbing!!!

    I'm ringing Equifax to check.
