  • didn't know it was use up month, but have already emptied my bathroom cupboard and the freezer stuff is starting to get used. Lets see how much money we can save this month. - I will be the person with blinkers on in the local shop, so I don't get tempted by any BOGOF offers. I will moneysave...I won't buy....I will moneysave...

We hade Use up January at Chez MATH so my freezer and cupboards are bare! I have managed to eek out one more meal out of nothing tho before I do a 'big shop' tomorrow. I've defrosted 5-6 individual portions of unidentified stew and casserole found lurking behind a bag of oven chips in the freezer, all mixed together they make an 'interesting medley' and topped with par cooked cubbed potato drizzled with a little olive oil and plenty of cracked pepper. Stick in the oven for an hour tonight and we're done.

All I need to do now is think up an apitizing name for this creation. The MATHLETTS usually call such lovingly crafted dishes 'ROADKILL on a PLATE' or " FREEZERBURN FRICASE" - I cast my pearls before swine - I really do. LOL

We call this 'enthusiastic' stew in our house - you put everything you've got into it!!

I only bought fresh veg and fruit all last month and I`m using storecupboard and freezer stuff up like mad. I did it all through january and it looks as though I am going to carry on through feb and march as well.

and that doesn`t count all the smellies and shower gels etc in the bathroom and bedroom cupboards. I`m going to be packaging some shortly for my dd`s birthdays but tha`ll hardly make a dent

oh why oh why was I so tempted by the tsv`s on qvc. molton brown, liz earle, l`occitane. I`ve got enough to start a shop

It`s payback time and this is more hard work than buying as and when needed

    Yeah Im with ya all:D

Have been doing this really since Christmas and still dont really seem to be any nearer using anything up:rolleyes:

I have the problem some have mentioned where I will drag out a bag of something or other from the freezer(usually something or other bought in bulk from Costco when it seems like a good bargain) - make something or other with it usually in the slow cooker and end up with 14 potions of something or other which of course has to go back in the freezer:rotfl: 1 step forward 14 steps back:D

I am also sick of my overflowing toilettries cupboard all of which are too posh to be used on a day to day basis so instead just get shoved in the cupboard under the sink:eek: so this month is posh toilettries month too - I will be smelling like a !!!!!s boudoir :rotfl:

I've used up most of my "normal" stuff in the freezer - fresh meat, frozen veg etc but I always end up with the same old bits that never get used - and never get binned.

So, this month we shall be having duck, frozen spinach and profiteroles, with a side order of wholemeal pittas. Yes - on the same plate, if you like :rotfl:

As for the bathroom then I'm not too bad there. It's the hair products that I can't get round to using/binning. I have so many gels, waxes, mousses etc - most of which don't do anything for my hair, so I can't think of any reason to keep them!! My downfall is make-up. I will not buy any more, I will not buy any more ........

.The problem is I have a habit when I am away travelling of bringing home the freebie soaps ,showers things from the hotels so I have a big bag of bits from all over the place .I am going to put all the shampoos into one bottle and all the shower stuff and conitioners in to other bottles and hopefully use them ALL up for a change . .

I do that when I stay at hotels (for work) and then give them to the place where homeless people get fed, watered and cleaned up. They are always grateful for toiletries. As hotels expect you to take the shampoo etc it's no loss to them and a great benefit to the homeless.
