How has everyone got on with this? Anyone still doing it  . We are down to the last shower gel and kids bubble bath. A couple of travel shampoos left, that'll be used up on a short break soon. Still got one surplus deodarant each :o and 2 surplus hand washes- cos DH bought a BOGOF offer:rolleyes: and he also came home with 3 W-U liquids recently  . Still-better than it used to be.

Just about managed. Got to get shower and bath stuff tomorrow for the first time in months. Still seem to have loads of bits and pieces left in the food line though:confused:
  • ITS HERE, ITS BACK !!

FEBRUARY IS 'USE UP' MONTH 2007

Especially for all Boots-ers and Tesco H&B fans!! and everyone else who wants to clear out cupboards etc and save money

I am still trying to use up the litre bottles of Toni and Guy shampoo from Boots last Feb! Haven't bought shampoo for a year - it's getting boring but I MUST NOT BUY ANY MORE until I've finished it. Still have some Boots handwash from another 'glitch' to use up too - perhaps it could do as shower gel?

On the food front my freezer is chocker with Christmas 'bits' - samosas, spring rolls etc - we must clear these up. Have a Stollen to get through by the end of the week.
Also found a pack of rissotto rice that's 'up ' 15th Feb - guess what we'll be eating?

So come on, confess, what are you going to be USING UP?!! :j :j :j

yes I'm all for that, I have just spent a large amount of cash on a three day trip to Disneyland Paris for myself and my DGS in March so I am on what my DD calls 'Mum's Frau Frugal trips ' I intend to buy almost nothing at all in Feb unless it's fresh milk ,bread ect .My cupboards WILL get emptied, and my bathroom shelves WILL get cleared of shampoos conditioners ect .The problem is I have a habit when I am away travelling of bringing home the freebie soaps ,showers things from the hotels so I have a big bag of bits from all over the place .I am going to put all the shampoos into one bottle and all the shower stuff and conitioners in to other bottles and hopefully use them ALL up for a change . It's also going to be a de-cluttering month as I seem to be sinking into a sea of junk. I am definitely inspired as it's the 1st of the month Onwards and upwards and I shall see how much actual cash I spend to the penny this month .

Sorting my life out one day at a time

  • I also 'shop from my wardrobe' - looking for new combinations of clothes, wear all those things I keep 'for best'. It's surprising what you can find, and all the things that don't fit or aren't right can go! - think of all those shoes you hardly ever wear!

I have a chart stuck up on the inside of my wardrobe door with my work clothes listed - along the top are skirts/trousers and down the side are tops/jackets/accessories. I just have a tick against the possible combinations and I rotate these over the month. So everthing that 'goes with' a particular skirt/trouser has a tick against it. I sorted this out in an idle afternoon when I just tried everything on and got teenage daughter's judgement on the combinations. Anything that didn't have at least 3 ticks against it was sent to the charity shop as not earning its keep in my wardrobe.
Sounds over the top but has helped a lot - no more standing in front of the clothes trying to think what to wear.

Count me in, my freezers are still bursting at the seams, and we havent done that much shopping lately, trouble is I keep making extra and freezing, so as soon as I get a space in the freezer, its filled with left-overs. I intend using up the left-overs, which will save me time and money. Cupboards arent too bad, and bathroom isnt over cluttered as dd is heavy handed with the shampoo's etc. Its mostly food I need to use up.

Wearing some of your 'best 'things brightens up a gloomy month - and saves money!

Love this idea. What am I saving those outfits for - we don't go out that much!!!!:p

    Wonderful organisation! *thumbs up*
  • I'm definitely doing this - freezer stuffed to the gunnels and some dried goods needing used up. Have small chest freezer in the garage plus a fridge feezer in the house, would like to be able eventually to turn the chest freezer off for the summer months. We'll see how it goes!
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
