February 2009 Grocery Challenge

OK I haven't been posting this month so far, mostly cos I've been away. Have spent a FORTUNE but this comes out of a different budget so actually the GC money looks ok. So far I've spent £55.49 on a tesco home delivery. I will need to spend probably about £15 today on other bits and pieces but I am hoping to come in under budget for once
Hope everyone else is getting on ok.
PS no romance here, DH has gone to work with instructions that i have to stay in the house for a delivery which I'm pretty sure is unrelated to valentines day *sigh*0 -
Went to MrT's last night with the OH... had to steer him away from magazines and CD's
Did really well actually! I remembered to look for whoopsied stock, made sure I followed my list and got everything on there.
Only had a couple of 'ouch moments'! Decided to get a pizza for tea as we hadn't eaten before going - got a Chicago Town pepperoni for £1.49; and OH requested some waffles to have for his tea, so we got those.
Total spend was £46.99 - which is about the same as when we have to pay £5.00 delivery, so the extra items were under a fiver...
We also got some ink cartridges for our printer, but paid for those seperately, as they are not grocery, and come from a seperate work-related budget.
Have altered my total in my sig, as made a mistake last week. When I was adding up, I counted my petrol in (as fuel isn't counted in grocery) and it was from MrT's so I nearly had a heart attack when I saw how overspent we were! Luckily, when I was calculating this morning, I realised, so we're not actually doing too bad! A little over spent, but only 1 more week's shopping to do (next Friday)!0 -
Re the washing powder/liquid. I use half the recommended amount but don't bother with soda crystals. Washing seems to be coming out fine!
I do this, just halve it and they come up just fine
I'm just sorting my Tesco online order out for the end of next week, finding it very samey at the moment though, stews, mince, spag bol, chilli etc etc ad nauseum! I want to add in a new meal, any ideas for something that's healthy, unprocessed, natural but cheap?!Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

DH surprised me yesterday with a bunch of flowers and a card that he had written a poem in!! I was quite shocked! pleased though...
I might end up with a nsd today, I was going to go to aldi for some carrots and baking spuds but dh is at work now till 2.30 and I have to take the kids to a party at 2 (till 4) so might have dinner tonight without the carrots...
am looking not too bad on the budge front, but have got my sis and her oh and son coming next weekend, don't think they will be here till late Friday though so poss no meal to sort out, then I was thinking dh could cook his gorgeous lasagne for Sat Night to save us getting a takeaway....
One the different meals front trixieb I made the moussaka from the first page on here and it was delicious have got the meat mix in the freezer to do it again....Jun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30

Righto - I spent £35.98 for this week. This means to stick to my budget I have under 11 quid to spend for next week! In my defence
it is a low target so being something to actually aim for and I don't expect to come under - just around abouts is good
And this week's is higher than it usually would be as I have bought the ingredients for my hm jam and peanut butter, most of the batches of which are for family and friends and so give me the cost per jar back, so it isn't quite as much as it looks (pence only really tho, but still... )
I also plan on cheating next tuesday as it is my birthday so will not add on the likely takeaway as I will use the tenner my mother gives me to treat ourselves... I can't think of a better way to spend it
Oh, and we spoiled ourselves with lindor eggs while waiting in the supermarket queue - damn those checkout shelves!Love and compassion to all x0 -
I am going to pick up a sack of spuds and a sack of onions today. I have two oranges in the bowl that no-one seems interested in so I am going to make an orange cake with them for dessert. I have some fairy cakes in the oven. My Bbq beef is ready to be heated up later.
For lunch we are having sausage, bacon & beans. I have some mash potato left so I am going to make some potato scones to go with them.
All this baking means I need more eggs. I could do with a coupe of hens, but I don't think my neighbours would be happy.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500

Hi Happy Valentines day
Grocery challenge doing well. I have £70 left for a week and a half so that will be OK.
Blown it a bit on the eating out front. I took DH out last night to a swanky murder mystery evening/meal which was great. I bought the tickets before Christmas but have still counted the cost in my signature.
Tonight he is taking me out and we have just been out for a huge cooked breakfast but as he is paying I don't count it!
Also got beautiful chocs and card.
E.B. wax last Thursday and I am having a much needed hair cut tomorrow which bumps up the 'me' money.0 -
Moussaka, hmmmm thank you!Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

Spent so far this month is up to £170. I think, we might just about make it this month. Just have to buy bits for picnic (usually whoppsies on the day). And then one more shop next week. But I rearranged meal plan to use things in freezer and make meals DH doesn't like. (he is away).
As it is also DH birthday today, the boys and I made a castle cake. (Requestet by DS1 and DH).I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0
