Haven't had an opportunity to update as my internet has been playing up. The order from Sainsburys came and it was just over £88. This included two pork joints, two packs of mince, fish, eggs, pasta, loads of tins and a stock up on baking stuff. This will certainly keep us until the end of the month and into next, when I'm having to have three weeks off work as I'm a nanny and the parents are taking a long holiday, which means three weeks of extra meals (normally I eat at work).

Tonight I'm going out for dinner with a friend, but we have vouchers for Gourmet Burger Kitchen (from this site) for a BOGOF on main meals. I'm tempted by the buffalo burger, but I've never had it before...anyone had it?

  • Needed a bigger shop this week so took the car to Mr T last night and spent 51.06. Got lots of stock items (cleaning etc) as I wanted to get to 50.00 so I could save on the petrol. Will still walk into town to pick up bargains and other bits as I need them. This way of shopping is suiting me at the moment.

  • I am definitely going to be over budget. But this is mainly because I have been stocking my freezer and I am picking up a bag of spuds and a bag of pnions tomorrow. But all the preparation and stocking up this month should mean I slice a bit off next months and come in under budget.

I did a little shopping during lunchtime. I spent 9p on a small portion (<50g) of deli meat (don't know what it is) for lunch (I've got bread and a tomato), and 50p on tomatoes (pack of 7, again reduced). That is the last of this week's shoppings.
    Total spending so far: £23.02 / £70

Note: it seems cheaper to buy cheese and ham in the deli counter. Anyone noticed?

99p to add to total for gravy granules I forgot.

I'm really impressed with my meat stretching abilities today, made a batch in SC of mince and gravy using a large pack of mince ( £3.33) ( 700g are they?) a handful of value oats, two handsful of red lentils and a handful of dried soya mince, with onions, leeks ( both frozen cheap in Farmfoods) stock and a shepherds pie mix for flavour, few gravy granules to thicken - and got 11 adult portions out of that, well pleased! 3 portions are being used tonight for mince and tatties, the rest is in the freezer in 3 portion sized pots to be turned into stew, shep pie, mince and onion pastry pies etc.

Just waiting for Tesco vouchers to come, anyone know when they are due I thought it was supposed to be beginning Feb? I'm not sure if using for groceries or if going to put them away for Xmas, or use them for a deal as it's better value isn't it?
Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

Yes it is but the packeted meat and cheese probably have a longer shelf /fridge life.It is sometimes a toss up between wanting something to last longer over price.
