    Hi all,

Just updated sig. I'm getting very close and still a week and half to go:rolleyes: .

Off to Tesco later for bits n bobs but hopefully got enough in for main meals and got baking stuff for cakes n biccies, so just need cereal, stuff for lunches and some yoghurts and then will need milk and bread to keep us going.

I'm planning a Tesco delivery for pay day (25th) but that'll be from next month budget an I've got code for extra points too:j

Have to be strict next week whilst kids are off - I see lots of baking going on!!:D

    Happy Valentine's to everyone.

  • Happy Valentine's day everyone - especially people who are having a lousy day (OH and I are in the middle of a BIG argument at the moment - day 6ish - :rotfl: )
Anyhow - I am ostensibly here to update my figures (£40 left out of £160 spend - but lots of stockpiling e.g. of dishwasher tablets, tissues etc) but in reality I am here to brag that I found a copy of Kitchen in the Hills by Elizabeth West in a charity shop for 50p - am so happy. I GASPED when I saw it and got a kind but bewildered look from another shopper :D

  • 2 more NSDs but needed a biggish shop at MrA today. Lots of veggies for the week, spuds, eggs, milk and bought a value turkey leg to freeze. Lots spent cos three Grandkids staying for the weekend!! Three for £10 nappies, formula and food for twin GDs (6months), DGS (8yrs) requested fajitas for dinner. He is staying for the week of halfterm, so snacks needed, crisps yoghurts etc. Costs more than meals for the two of us!! Should still be on track for GC but with less bought ahead methinks. lol

Used 4 large chicken breasts to make chicken korma and chicken saag balti. Made some bombay aloo as well. Fed us three last night and froze three instant meals of korma, rice and potato, 1 saag, rice and potato, a double portion of saag together with rice and a couple of helpings of bombay potato, and two portions of rice to go with a chilli. Plenty for a meal before the end of Feb + some work lunches for me. Just off to update.

I do this, just halve it and they come up just fine :)

I'm just sorting my Tesco online order out for the end of next week, finding it very samey at the moment though, stews, mince, spag bol, chilli etc etc ad nauseum! I want to add in a new meal, any ideas for something that's healthy, unprocessed, natural but cheap?!
Hi, Have you tried home made burgers or meatballs? I try and vary the meals and pad out with usual suspects, so I can freeze for another night. I like lemon chicken, chicken lasagne, Veg burgers, fish cakes, tomato and lentil soup, but spicy bean and sweet pot stew is my fav at the mo. My family also like plate pies. Ok I'll stop now.:D HTH
    Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.
    Grocery challenge july £300/£134-85.
  • Well I tooted up my spends and Im still on track so Ive just been to Waitrose for a few things which I find difficult to get elsewhere. They seem to be cheaper than Somerfield lately! They now have a meat/fish offer on-3 packs for a tenner so I got that. Also bought the valentines brunch of smoked salmon trimmings, orange juice and FR eggs for a fiver. Their Sacla sauces are about 50p less than Somerfields. I bought 2 of their own make light pesto which is lower carb than any of the others. Got some sundried toms in olive oil and some ginger in a jar shredded. These things will just make my menus more interesting. Used up all of my Lurpack vouchers too-saved about £5 with vouchers. So another total to add to my spends of £40.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

Flat Eric Don'twotty too much about yr overspend - just sit down and work out a meal plan and work out how many meals etc. you will get for what you bought - and if you were mislead on something, take it back for a refund  I would do this out of principle......The main thing is you are aware of what you are spending, which before doing the challenge I certainly was not...
    .

    Hello
Thanks for your post. You are right. I just need to sit down and update my food plan. I got some bargains in sainsburys yesterday so although it has been an expensive week, I am well stocked up and think it will be possible to spend very little over the next few weeks.

I resisted the M&S Dine in for 2 valentines menu costing £20  and instead I am having a lovely homemade beef madras curry with rice for tea followed with Gu Hot Chocolate Souflees for pudd (served with clotted cream / ice cream and fresh raspberries (got the raspberries free as enough points on my dividend card :j)

Have taken pork steaks out of the freezer which I will be having tomorrow with mustard mash and a selection of roasted veg. Yum.

Well stocked on oranges so better get munching them!!
Someone mentioned in a post back along about old fashioned (cheap) cleaning tips - is there a specific thread for this and can someone point me in the right direction?

    Have a lovely evening everyone.

PS I am much more aware of the whoopsies now and head to them like when I visit a supermarket like a bee to honey :rotfl:
