By careful meal planning and using up virtually the entire contents of the freezer and a lot of the store cupboard our grocery spend for february appears to be £149.60 :j which is way under budget however we were away for a week as well-will say though that today I spent £118.15 in Sainsburys restocking so that will alreay be over half my March budget of £200.00.

See you on the March thread!

I was in a Mr T today, so checked the shelf ticket. It now says the offer ends on 28th Aug, so you're safe for a while yet.

But if you have an A!di nearby it's worth checking there -- ours does 1 litre of semi-skimmed for 49p, so that works out slightly cheaper again :)

Thanks for that - will try Aldi. Keep meaning to pop in but think I've become addicted to Tesco Clubcard points, lol..... (Paid for my holiday and a theatre weekend in London last year with them!!)

MrsB.

Hi Johnswife! All of us are friendly, most of us are nutters! LOL!
I don't get to come on here too often.
Too buzy money saving!
:D
• Spent £6.03 on bacon, eggs, sausages and bread today for OH and FIL who are working on the downstairs loo over the weekend.

So I'd like to declare at £199.70 :j :j :j

Please set March for £250.

I'll be including all toiletries, cleaning/washing and booze instead of just food for March onwards.

Well done everybody who stayed under in Feb and if you didn't just think of that lovely new and shiny budget :D .

MrsM.....declaring £255 for FEB

cupboards bit lower than usual but they were overflowing:o

Will look in cupboards before deciding budget for march.

Well done everybody:T
• Just done a big-ish shop in Mr T's £41.12. Before GC, a big shop would have been at least double that, so well done me!! :j Lots of store cupboard stuff as I was beginning to run low. Have the whole toilet roll thing sorted. I'm not bothered about buying the economy stuff, but opted for the discount value brand lot at £1.99 for 9. Also just done some batch cooking as although I'm on hols from work for another week, I seem to have no time left or can't be bothered when I'm working. Sausage casserole in the SC, and 6 x lentil shepherds pie in the freezer. Got the recipe from this months Somerfield magazine where it says it's only 90p a portion. But I managed 6 portions instead of 4 and already had most of it in. A bottle of lovely pink rose wine also somehow managed to find it's way into my trolley today, funny that!!

Hurrah!! Have just realised I've made it from Newbie to Convert!!
My name is CherryPie and I'm addicted to grocery shopping!!

Grocery Challenge

Feb 2016 - £46.73 / £100.00
• Well Ive checked my figures this morning and I forgot that Id taken some of the money out of my purse because I dont like to carry too much. I have more than I thought! So-Ive had a last minute splurge today.
firstly I went to the market but they didnt have much left-I went a bit late so I then went to the greengrocers and got leeks cauli brocolli eggs apples-bananas were too expensive-waitrose do them cheaper!
I then went to Waitrose and got the bananas and cream, jellies and other bitsnbobs plus I got rid of some vouchers-about £6 worth.
Then I went to the pharmacy and noticed a job vacancy so Ive applied as Ive worked in a pharmacy before and its a proper job rather than casual. Brough form home then took it back completed in under 2 hours. Then to warrant the petrol I popped in Co-op at 5.45 and got loads of whoopsied meat! Their willow farm chicken breasts were £8.99 down to £3.99 so Ive got 2 packs and they are in the freezer now! Also half a duck for £2.99.Too much to list-but it was all great bargains. I also bought petrol for £22 so Ive now done this months spending and I will start March off with a purse full of money and not need a lot. I did this at the end of Jan too-a bit like when a company spends the rest of its budget before the next allocation!
Its a great feeling! Ive been using up tubs from my freezer this week of HM meals to try to make some room. So glad I did now or I couldnt have got tonights bargains. Tomorrow we are eating duck with something or other!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
• CherryPie please can I have the recipe for lentil shepherds pie. Well I hang my head in shame I gave up half way through when I was trying to get my shopping below £75 and ended up buying battery eggs. Felt very ashamed of myself as I haven't bought battery eggs in 20 years. My 6 egg omelette daughter wouldn't touch them so I had to go out and buy some more and we've still got the battery eggs at the back of the fridge.
Anyway, I'm going to give it another try and March budget will be £450.
