Just got a JVC GR-D240EK camcorder for £171.98 including 3 mini DV tapes, and 828 advantage card points plus the 4.5% (about £7.50) through quidco.

Cheapest I've seen it for elsewhere is £189.99 and 3 tapes are normally £14.99 so I'm a very happy bunny!

Everyone remember to click thanks for the original poster!

This is the same camcorder that is in Tesco at £149.99. At Boots.com it works out at £159.99 with 799 points not going through quidco etc. So still slightly better value in Tesco - if you can get to a Tesco with one in stock. Three Sony tapes from Comet at £9.99 or 6+2 free for £19.99, although no points then - not sure if best value as only did quick look.

So I am trying to figure out what is the overall best value and it is doing my head in, but thinking I will keep the one I got in Tesco and go to bed - got tired out with my carrying the free abdominal trainer :j and other bargains about (colleagues at work think I must have shares in Boots the number of bags I carry back from lunch!!)

While we're on the subject of Quidco cashbacks from Boots I have bought a number of things from Boots and got my Quidco money tracked, but all the high value items - some going back to 10 Nov - have still not been paid to Quidco. So don't think you're going to get the Quidco cashback quickly and I wouldn't take it as gospel truth if you're including it in your estimate of savings with this Boots offer.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Two of the items I bought were Ipods, so maybe they don't make large payments to Quidco or maybe they take a number of months to pay Quidco for electrical items?

After discount, points, Quidco etc the Boots deal costs £3.65 more than the Tesco one. £3.65 will probably cover delivery costs and will save zincoxide from having to get the car out! So overall, you have tied! Well done to both of you for getting your bargains - you can now sleep well. night, night...
  • Can anyone please tell me if I can still collect points if I've lost my advantage card?

I've asked in this thread once but nobody answered. :(

Can't I put the points on at a later date? I'm unlikely to find my card though, will I need to sign up again or will they send me another? I can't see any mention of loss on their site.

Here is a link to the information given on the Boots site about lost/stolen cards: http://www.boots.com/microsites/microsite_info_template.jsp?contentId=2899
  • Wow, that was fast. Thanks Frogling, I didn't see that section for some reason.

I've ordered many high value electrical items from Boots and I've been using Quidco for these purchases since around May last year. All cashback is paid up within 2-3 months. It is a long time but it does get paid eventually. I don't think cashback for electrical items takes longer to be credited, as I've lots of smaller orders (stuff like razor blades and fragrance) and they take the same amount of time to be credited. There's a good Quidco thread in the referral forum if you're not aware of it :)
  • Oh dear, to complicate matters, I orignally used my sisters' advantage card with my order with Boots.com in 2004 and that is the number that is still associated with the account. I did get a card from them myself but lost it and never used it.

So would this complicate things as I don't know my own adv number and have never used it?

They should be able to trace you from the address details you gave when you applied for your card originally. I don't think many of us would know our own AC number if we lost them, despite how much use we get out of them lol!

It shouldn't complicate things that you have used your sisters cards for online orders, the Advantage Card details will be held completely separately from the online shop. HTH :)
