Good idea i wish i had not bothered now as its nearly useless i know they say that i can a apply for a connect card in a few months but i dont really need the card its the internet banking that is more useful to me. Its stupid that you have to have a connect or debit card to have internet access.

At least you've heard k2nga... I applied twice in branch - which were declined. I then applied by post but I still haven't heard a thing! I called them yesterday but they couldn't find me on their system (even though the branch have input my details and verified me). I meant to pop into the branch today to ask but I went to the bakery instead!

Well I went into the bakery again today but after going into my local Barclays. I wanted to see if my postal application had been accepted, declined or still pending but they couldn't find me on the system. This is the third time I seem to have been deleted. Even if my postal application had got lost in the post or yet to be processed, it doesn't explain why I have been removed from their systems.

i t took me a month for them to open my bank account and for my other half well over a month and a half . aparently they told me they have a huge backlog of application that was last year not sure now i must say . !

The applications are probably being sent by surface mail to India... :rolleyes:

Hi, I'm a Personal Banker with Barclays too but new to forums! I think the procedures are changing, we were never allowed to open Cash Card Accounts in branch but if a customer asks now then we have to do it. The search is only to verify your address and is not disclosed to other lenders. I've had a couple of postal applications declined, apparently they automatically are if the customer is bankrupt and if an appeal is made they are accepted, but the processing centre is not allowed to do this??

Customers with bankruptcies are not allowed Online Banking, not sure why though.

Well the mystery deepens after a call from the branch today to tell me that the call centre were a waste of time and they talked me through getting on the internet banking filling in any infor i had missing so again the lesson guys is stick with those guys in branch they are great.
