Thanks for info. They did mention that the manager would try and input the application on the old system so I assume that they used the new system originally.

I had a similar problem with Barclays. We wanted to take my name off joint account before I went BR. We phoned, went into the branch etc and it took 3 months to finally get my name off account. When we phoned they said we need to go into the branch together, when we went into the branch they said we had to do it over the phone - round and round until we finally went into the branch and I made the woman phone there and then to sort it out. Apparently there was one box she didn't tick on the computer so it was still showing as a joint account.

A month or so after we got the account into my husband's name only, they took out a payment for my Barclayloan. Luckily I keep a tight reign on finances and phoned them straightaway - of course, they couldn't speak to me because it was no longer my account but I told them it was illegal to take my debt out of husband's account and the money was credited instantly.

Just shows they'll try it on and some people might fall for it. Thankfully since I've been on this forum so long I knew they couldn't do that and stood up for myself.

Yeah i was told that they would appeal and it was likely i could get the account with a cash card and then they would apply for an connect card down the line i guess after discharge although she did not say a time.

I had an appointment to apply in branch, the computer system wouldnt process my application due to my BR and I had to submit a paper application, it was refused. They DO do credit checks, the letter said they had checked my credit file with Equifax and were refusing my application.

read the application information, cash card is not credit checked its CRA checked, slightly different. Again after being a personal banker for 6 years, i have had about 300 cash card accounts opened, and 11 declined. There should not be this many declines, unless you are failing on something else. (None of the 11 declines were due to credit)

Connect electronic is a non scored card, can just be applied for when the cash card account is opened, comes as standard with cash card accounts if requested. Just phone telephone banking 08457 555555 and ask for a connect electronic on your account, if you struggle it would take your branch about 4mins to process.

sounds pretty pathetic if im honest, both people come into branch, get it put in writing so we have confirmation, party is removed there and then (assuming this is a current/savings account). Short/long and statement names changed then. In all this takes about 15mins if the pb is particularly slow.

So Barclays make a habit of sending out letters saying they have refused your applicationm after checking your Equifax credit file?

standard decline letter i would suggest, doesnt give specifics just says decline due to scoring bla bla bla. the letters sent out really just says you have been declined, not alot else.
