standard decline letter i would suggest, doesnt give specifics just says decline due to scoring bla bla bla. the letters sent out really just says you have been declined, not alot else.

Any chance you can sort out my application for me then cos the branch Im going to is crap, they sent off my application but didnt stamp my photocopies of documents, so it got refused. I got the copies stamped and sent off, only to get them back as they had wiped my application off the system. I filled in a new application form and took my photocopies to teh branch, asked them to stamp them and send off application only for them to send it all back to me 2 days later with a note saying to post myself in the envelope provided, and guess what, they didnt stamp the copies again!

She said that she was told to apply for the cash card as there was a better chance that it would go through and if i ran the account well for a few months they could then possibly get me the electronic connect card:confused:

It seems silly that you have to guess what they might accept you for and end up applying for a cash card just to have a greater chance of being accepted. I don't understand why Barclays can't just process an application and make a decision on what type of card to offer you.

The same sort of thing used to annoy me when applying for loans. If I put in a loan application for say £20,000 and the bank decide that £10,000 is what they will lend me, then why not say we can offer £10,000 rather than decline it? Anyway, that process won't annoy me any more. Those dark days (of debt) are behind me now!

Anyway, finger's crossed you'll hear something soon k2nga.

Well i had a call from the bank today to say that there is still no decision on the appeal so that will be a week tomorrow. I was told that they policy was being tightened towards us BR's. I asked about the electronic connect card and mentioned what was said on here but i did not say the site so no worries there.

She said that she was told to apply for the cash card as there was a better chance that it would go through and if i ran the account well for a few months they could then possibly get me the electronic connect card:confused:

So i am hoping no news is good news that she will call tomorrow with some good news that i at least have the account......

I am surprised that Barclays are changing there policy as as the lady said to me that we have had a knock but might be very good customers for the bank in the future.

absolute tosh, so irritating because if i had the details i could have ordered the card within seconds. The connect electronic is not scored, their are no limitations or 11yrs olds would not be able to have it, unless the personal banker you are dealing with are seriously suggesting a 11yr old is more worthy. Sounds like you are being messed about a bit so i apologise about that. i would suggest you tell them to log onto their old system, log an application and press open account, not brain surgery and card ordered then and their.

would love to, but would involve you having to come to my branch, which is probably miles away from where you live. Apply within the branch, do not let them send off documents just open then and there and make sure they use system called "exceed" rather then "gateway". Should sort it, unless as i said barclays are declining you for a reason other than your bankruptcy, their are a few reasons, but not many. Normally issues with your address are the only decline reasons for cash card account.

we can with loans, if we apply for a loan for 20k and it declines, but you qualify for 10k it will say amount over limits meaning you do qualify for a lower amount, a quick phonecall can tell us what that limit is. Also customers develop pre approved limits in 90% of cases, so we would know what your maximum loan amounts would be.

I did apply in branch, but when she reached the end of the form on the computer it wouldnt allow her to complete the application, she said it was due to my BR and I had to do it by post.

Well i waited for my call and it came i have been accepted but i will have to have only a cashcard for a while but hey beggars cant be choosers.

I did ask about the old and new system and i did notice that my personal banker was shift screens all the time but it appears i was stopped on the old and new which as they admitted themselves was strange but at least on appeal as i should have been allowed the account i got one and i have been given my sort code and account number and i rushed to the bank to put some money in just to make sure it was there which is was.

Just waiting for the paperwork to come in the post which i guess i might see tomorrow but one thing i would say to people is go along to the bank as i feel if you are BR doing the application by post is a waste of time and make an appointment like i did then you know your branch know why you are coming and you can get it done there and then as my local bank is small and did not do thing hence my postal application in the first instance.

Then at least if you go into branch you should be able to appeal there and then if there are any problems and not i am over the initial dissapointment that i experienced with the call centre i am happy now to be a new Barclays Customer.

:mad:Right well after a week of having my new Barclays account i can tell you now that it aint what they tell you.

I have had all the paperwork apparently its all set up or is it..............

I tried to register for online banking which it says on there website that you can but if they only let you have a cash card which apparently they are now starting to issue to us (Scum) bankrupts (Sorry but from the calls i have made this evening you know they are thinking we are scum) you cant have online banking ????? Right well it does not say that on there website and doenst so i have made a complaint to them about it.

I then said so really you have given me a useless account as i cant actually use it for banking. The lady i complained to went on to say that i can always use telephone banking which in case you never realised is an 0845 number so you are paying them to sort your account. I then called the telephone banking as i wanted to tranfer some money to my co-op account and low and behold they cant do transfers over the phone to other banks so the account really is useless. If i want to use it i have to go into the bank with 2 forms of id everytime i need anything...... So Barclays are just like all the rest apart from Co-op of course.

Thank god i have my Cashminder.

I am hoping to get ED soon has anyone got an account with any other banks after discharge that are worth me looking into then i will ditch Barclays as they are a waste of time and i bet my complaint goes straight in the bin.
