If you go onto AOL billing, you can check if there are any chargeable calls on your account. They appear the day after making the call.0

Please can somebody clarify this for me. I am with AOL and pay £14.99 per month for the silver package. I would like to reduce this to £6.99 to include the calls, since that seems to be the only way to get the £6.99 package. My current BT plan ends on 27th April. What do I do first? Do I ring AOL and request a price reduction and then ring BT? What will I be paying BT for if I am paying AOL for my calls? Is it just the £29.99 rental?
Thanks for any help - I am finding this a bit confusing.Ellie

I was paying £24.99 for AOL Platinum. Having read this thread I called AOL on the number above and told them I want to cancel. No sooner did I say this that the man on the phone agreed to lower my whole package with the free calls and wireless router down to £6.99 a month! Then when I complained why they hadn't offered this to me before, he apologised and threw in an extra 2 months free rental!.....Nice One!0

If you make 2 chargeable calls per month via BT, the service is free. I can do this using 1280 prefix. In some exchanges you're not able to access 1280. If you're not able to dial out using 1280, there's a cheaper way to get the service using a BT chargecard. Details about this are on the Home phones forum. But if I accept the free calls offer will I still be able to use Caller Display, which is a BT function??
From BT website
* BT Privacy helps stop unwanted sales calls by registering you with the Telephone Preference Service and giving you BT Caller Display at no extra charge. From 1st October 2006, customers who do not make some chargeable calls with BT will be charged for BT Caller Display. Customers with other call providers can still benefit from BT Caller Display at no extra cost if the following calls are made. Customers who are billed monthly must make at least two chargeable calls with BT in that month, other wise BT reserves the right to charge £2.50 a month for BT Caller Display. Customers who are billed every three months must make at least six chargeable calls within those three months, otherwise BT reserves the right to charge £7.50 a quarter. If you do not currently make calls with BT and would like to start making your calls with us again, please call 0800 121 8088. Alternatively, if you'd like to make one-off calls that are chargeable to your BT bill then simply dial the numbers 1280 before you dial the phone number you wish to call.0 -
