It sounds to mke like the manager was not the 'store manager' but a wet behind the ears assistant manager. Mistakes happen, and I have made them myself but it seems to have been mishandled on this occasion.
If I observed someone going down my toiletries aisles with a large bag I would certainly keep an eye on them!
  • Shame your bag wasn't full of horse manure. I'm sure he would have loved that emptied all over his desk!

  • These huge companies make me sick.

I can't tell you the number of times I've checked my receipts to find I've been overcharged or a "Special offer" hasn't gone through. Basically they have committed a theft and yet they get away with it. A couple of times I've gone to CS on my next visit and there's not even an apology even though they have taken money from me they weren't entitled to.

I write for a local newspaper and my editor has said if it happens again he would be interested in an article. As someone has said, that's the only time these companies will take notice, when bad publicity looms.

This thread highlights how they think they can treat a person if they think the theft has been committed the other way round.

    Sickening.
  • It could be worse. Something very similar happened to a friend of mine, they were searched, nothing was found, no apology, just an allegation that they must have passed the good on to an accomplice. But it gets better, the store (Boots in this case), then set a bunch of goons called RPL onto my friend demanding £137 quid for security costs or threatening a civil case!
  • do many shoplifters go and pay for the rest of their shopping! That is absolutely shocking! Write to head office in Bradford with copies to head of security, the store manager (who presumably was the one who stopped you so should remember) and the local newspapers! I wouldn't step foot in the place until you get a full apology and some sort of compensation!
:beer:Proudly paying as little as possible for stuff since birth:beer:

yep, big companies can do what they want..and do

if people stopped shopping at companies known to treat customers poorly, they'd soon change there ways...however takes more than just me

I'm sure it's happened to other people too, it would be nice to see an article about how big stores treat people

Hi map200uk - I hope you complained, this is horrible - I would have mortified too. Also when you're in that situation you can't always think straight and when you walk away you think "oh could have done this or that" but it's really hard at the time when you're so taken aback.. please let us know the outcome and I hope you're feeling much better now after all this..
