Morrisons

Hi,
I wasn't really sure where to put this, just hoping someone can help me
I went to Morrisons tonight after I had finished at the gym, meaning I had my big bag with me full of gym equipment, anyway I usually go to morrisons after the gym 4-5 times a week, never been a problem. However this time some over keen store manager is following me around with a 'big reduced' trolley, so not really the most subtle.
I was wandering around the store doing my shop, with a basket..so it wasn't like i was holding the goods in my hand etc
I got to the checkout, armed with my basket and card in pocket, emptied the basket onto the checkout and asked the girl 'Why am I being watched' there were 2/3 members of staff a few tills down, blatantley watching me. AT which point the manager comes over, and says to me 'We were watching as you were acting weirdly' define weirdly..big bag, walking round slow putting stuff in THE BASKET?
Anyway she then says to leave my stuff and go, so I say 'ok' and make my way out, at which point she follows me?! After having said to go, and says to me:
Her: 'Empty your bag out'
Me: 'No, you have no right to make me, i've done nothing'
Her; 'I can and will, I know you have something in there'.
Me; 'Call the police then if i've done something wrong'
Her; carries on insisting she has the power to make me and stating she has me on camera...so?
eventually i just thought sod it..i don't want to wait around for the police..to prove I have done nothing wrong, plus there are people watching (both customers and other members of staff)
I emptied my bag slowly, to reveal as I had said, gym equipment, shirt, jumper, trousers, shower gel, deep heat, lifting belt, straps, shaker etc
Thereby proving I had infact done nothing wrong..although as expected no appology was made. This whole spectacle should be on camera, showing me doing a shop..placing items in a basket and then emptying my bag
This whole spectacle, was both embarassing and wrong. I left the gym early to go pickup some food, which I ended up not getting
Is it worth writing a letter of complaint to head office-I think it is, but will it just get ignored?
thanks

I would certainly write a strongly worded letter to the head office.
and send a copy to the store manager. It's an outrageous way to be treat especially in front of other customers and staff. A mofor apology is duemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I would of refused to open my bag and demand to go into their security office and view the camera footage with the manager alongside me... then after proving my innocence, I'd tell the manager to shove a bag of king edwards up his/her *ss and inform him/her that I will now take my custom else where from now on.
Too right you should write a letter of complaint. Send one to head office and to the store in question.
I think the way they've treated you is a disgrace if they haven't actually seen you put anything into your bag.0 -
What a horrible experience.
Personally I'd have made them call the police and let them explain the waste of time. I would also write the letter even though it will probably be ignored and I would NEVER shop there againMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Yes, agree letter of complaint to Head Office copying in the store manager. I would have written down his name there and then. If the darn man was following you around, why couldn't he see that you weren't putting things in the bag.
Absolutely awful. I would want an apology from Head Office, and from the Store Manager.

I absolutely wouldn't have cared how long I had to wait, I would have INSISTED on the police turning up. The way you were treated is simply outrageous and it would have been worth the wait to see the police's displeasure at being called out to a non-incident. I hope you got the relevant people's names because I genuinely think you should take it to the higher echelons of Morrisons HO management.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I did resist at first mate, but the thing is I walk to the gym and back takes me 40mins, so I didn't really want to hang around wasting time..I wanted to get back else I would have waited for the policeI would of refused to open my bag and demand to go into their security office and view the camera footage with the manager alongside me... then after proving my innocence, I'd tell the manager to shove a bag of king edwards up his/her *ss and inform him/her that I will now take my custom else where from now on.

Yea that's the sad thing, it will probably be ignored. I did want to wait for the police, but as said above, i didn't have the time-and it's also quite embarassing id imagine if the police come...EVEN THOUGH i haven't done anything it's not like i would get a public appologykazmeister wrote: »What a horrible experience.

You poor thing, must have ruined your evening.
I would write a stinkin letter, threaten them you will go to the papers if they don't compensate you. How terrible.
Next week go in and go right up to them and empty out the most stinkiest rank trainers and shorts you can find and chuck them at them.:D - Sniff that!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
