    Happy birthday Gracie:bdaycake:

Happy Australia Day to all you Aussies...had Australia Day lunch yesterday with the Ireland Australia Association in Dublin and had the pleasure of meeting your ambassador to Ireland...lovely lady who looks far too young to have grown up children.

I have stopped listening to all the doom and gloom...the media are thriving on it. I know that there are serious problems with world economies, but harping on about it and how much worse it is going to get will do no good...positive thinking is the thing.

Sybil...sorry that you are feeling so low, take it easy and give yourself time to recover your physical health...do you make sure to have something to eat before taking tablets, I do now, even if only a piece of dry bread...helps the tummy cope I find..look after you and your son, anything else can be deferred.

Csarina....I can so sympathise with you on the tv thing....my OH then sits down to read the paper and ignores it and the noise drives me mad.

Still got visitors on and off until Friday morning so am starting my new year on 1st February!

Hugs to all in need or want whom I may have forgotten, have as good a day as possible everybody

    Marie

Well. I have changed my doc's appointment and made arrangements to see the travel clinic this afternoon. Never been known to get appts so quickly. I don't know whether I would be able to travel getting inj so late, but will prob need them later in the year any way as will be visiting dh abroad.

Sitting around will be an option, but telly is locally Spanish LOL! Although my DD is out in Mex working, she's only 18 and not sure it's right for her to have her life disrupted by a tearful mother. THeory would be that I would recover quickly in the sunshine! We'll see what the day brings. DH was supposed to hear about his job in Mex last week. Was also going to start 11th Feb. Still not heard either way. Why is life so complicated? All at a time when thinking and concentration don't happen easily for me. Still, let's see what happens.

    Good Mornning Everyone!
Brighter here today - I do hate it when it's just grey and damp and it's been like that so much lately. Am trying to avoid the news as much as possible - can't help wondering how much the constant repetition of doom and gloom is really fuelling the current situation. I know that may make me sound as if I'm trying to hide my head in the sand, but that's not the case. I'd love it if for a week the TV and radio covered the good news instead - might change the collective mood. (And to those desperately worried about jobs, I do really, really wish you all the very best of luck in finding something very soon/ being told your job's safe longer term.)
Need to sort out new meal plan today - have pretty-well stuck with current 4-week one for over a year, and am now bored! washing is on (some drying outside) and am slowly getting housework done.
Gracie - enjoy your birthday today.
((HUGS)) to all who feel worried, ill, lonely or sad - or would just like a hug anyway.

    Think twice before spending anything!

Gracie - Happy Birthday, I hope that you have a fantastic day and that your shopping trip is very fruitful!

Hester - hope that things improve at work for you soon, all these changes will hopefully be for the better?!

Purple - big hugs, you sound in need of them

Katholicos - sounds very complicated and I'm not surprised you're worried and stressed with it all, have you tried the benefits board, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would have good advice on there?

Beth - your ingenuity knows no bounds, enjoy your hols and a drink or two! Has Ben had his bubble bath refilled with tonic water lol!

VickyA - thinking of you and your mum, glad her op went well and that she has so many friends to support her

Crazychick - well done on your weight loss, that is impressive! Your poor friend, she's really going through it, what a terrible thing to discover after all that she's had to cope with so far

Sybil - Hope that LB settled in the end last night! My BIL used to volunteer as a driver for a local charity called Furn-Aid, they picked up furniture from people who were donating it and delivered it to those who needed it. Maybe there's something like that in your area?

Hockeyduo - I love Bath too, beautiful city. We found it a huge shock when we moved to Somerset, nothing is open late never mind after midnight lol! Where I live we still have early closing on Wednesdays, and as for Sunday opening!

Well I've hoovered and test driven my new shoes, poss a bit too high to do the housework in as a regular thing lol! Chatted to a friend on the phone and been coerced into doing some more charity stuff by a neighbour, sometimes I think I shouldn't open the front door!

Just need to finish my last few jobs then the day is mine! I have the new Lakeland catalogue - or housewife !!!!!! as I like to think of it! I have some more seed catalogues - garden !!!!!!! And the new Peter James that is set in Brighton apparently, which is where I grew up. Best get a wiggle on then I can enjoy myself!

    Edit:

Turfy - glad everything is okay with your ds, that must've really been worrying

  • I know I'm on again but I had to tell someone, I'm so excited.

A new fruit and veg shop has opened in my street!! Yes I know that's sad but now we have a decent butchers, a couple of asian supermarkets a proper fruit and veg shop and the co-op for everything else. I can see a time where I can kiss Mr T's goodbye :D

Ooh excellent Moggins! I'd love some good Asian supermarkets near us, when I lived in Bedford we had Caribbean, Asian, and Italian shops near us, I really miss the variety, not to mention the prices!

It's funny, but OS stuff doesn't seem to generate the same excitement amongst my friends as it does on here  For instance, I've told a couple of friends about my pineapple upside down cake tin from Lakeland, were they excited, could they see why I was excited, did they even see the point? No, no and no! One even asked why I bothered making cake when you could buy it  Pah to them, I lurve it! :rotfl:

Made dd and myself a cooked breakfast in the Remoska.

Washing needs to be hung out on the line and have just put some leek and pea soup in the slow cooker for tonight.

Feel really down today as youngest DD decided to tell me last night how much happier I would be if I lost weight.

She might well have a point but I hate this time of year when all I want to do is hibernate. It does not help when she decides to act as the "food police" by checking up on what I am eating.

I got scolded last night for having a cup of soup for heavens sake!!!!!

All I want to do now is eat till I burst!!!!

Not selling the house is not helping either.

    Happy Birthday Gracie :bdaycake:

    Hester

    Fingers crossed for your job.

Going to hang washing out so see you all later.

    Big hug

    Hi All,

Been MIA as have got the flu  Just hope my germs don't spread through the keyboard to everyone :D I've just come downstairs to get a hot drink (finding the OS hot water, lemon, honey & ginger brilliant) & put the Wm on as everybody else thinks its the washing machine fairy that visits :p so thought I'd just pop on to say hi.

Hope everyone is doing good (((((((((hugs)))))))) to all poorlies, those having treatment/in hosp & anyone else who needs one. Not very OS really at the moment but I'm not eating if that counts LOL! DH decided that dinner last night could be McDonald's  but at least the kitchen was in a reasonable state this morning! I'll catch up on the threads tomorrow when I'll hopefully be feeling better. Love to all.

    Louise xx
