  • I don't know if I'm asking too much, but I always want to reduce what's under my TV. I've been looking for a DVD recorder with a hard disk drive for a while. However, I really want one with twin Freeview decoders so I can watch one channel whilst recording another. I've found DVD recorders with Freeview and hard disk recorders with Freeview but never all three in the same box.

Does this device fill the gap? I can't really tell from the picture on the box. Can you help?

I was looking for the same - there are plenty but expect to pay £400+ for one. Although I did find a sony one the other day:

    http://www.dixons.co.uk/product.php?sku=537369&camp_id=froogle (can be found cheaper).

This one is also good and has SD card:

Also found a twin tuner one but was £600!

Why - is it unstable or something? Seems like a good spec for the money if it works OK. Recently had a play-around with the LG RH7500 which is £230 from Comet - similar spec to this. Didn't realise Eltax (Danish speaker manufacturer) had branched out into this kind of stuff...

I bought this ages ago through Ebuyer and it is great! It did cost £170 at the time though, so it seems to have gone up a bit!

The only downside I have for it is that the fan is quite noisy, but not to the point that it is overpowering.

I just bought it cos I didnt want to pay £400+ for a really good one, and thought this would see me through the next few years until I can aford/get something better.

Thickie question from a newbie - so please be gentle with me!

We've got Sky - can you record directly from this or is Sky+ the only option..... which is another whole new can of worms as we only installed in September (we already have multiroom) and our "special" offer was a portable DVD player.

    Any advice gratefully received!

Ultimate my aerosol can. NO Freeview. NO DVD-RAM. NO decent brand name.
    Nice to save.

    Hi LSD and others

Please can you give us your opinion on which reasonably priced DVD recorder to choose and why.

This model is highly thought of by the reviewers on ebuyer and seems pretty well spec'd for the price.

I agree the title to the thread is misleading but apart from that this does seem a pretty good buy
