  • Morning Chums ,what an absolutely filthy day it is today.I have been trying to phone my brother in France, but his lines must be down again. He lives in a very rural part, and quite often he loses his phone line.I did email him but so far have had no reply.Very bad storms round where he lives in about 60 kilometres from Poitiers.
Well this morning I am going to finish off a short essay for tomorrow night's lesson, and make my sis-in-law a birthday cards for next Sunday .I have bought her a SC for a present as she is always impressed at mine when she visits.
This afternoon I will be off to my DD's and the tribe and after helping Jack,8 & Henry,7, with their homework I think a noisy game of Monoploy is on the cards. It all decends into noise whatever game we play ,but its a lot of fun.
Penny Pincher ,when my youngest DD was 14 she worked as a Saturday girl in Smiths the Greengrocers by Welling traffic lights .She enjoyed herself there, and one of the perks was whatever fruit and veg she wanted to take home. She stayed there until 16 and used to have lots of regulars who she loved to chat to.She even met her first husband there as he came into the shop to buy flowers for his Mum .
We lived in Barnehurst then of course so it wasn't too far away.I don't know if it's allowed anymore as my eldest DGS had to wait until he was 16 and had an N.I. no. before he could get a job at the week end. Shame really as most youngsters benefit from a Saturday job.
My eldest worked as a cleaner for 18 months for a lady locally, and used the money to buy her own clothes ,then whilst she was at Erith College doing her A levels at 17 she worked for BHS in Bexleyheath on a Saturday and a Thursday night . She paid for all her own driving lessons from this.Good experience in managing money and learning that Mum and Dad aren't money trees I think. Both of our daughters learned the value of money early.
well time to toddle off.Hope everyone has a good day and stays in the dry if possible
<<hugs to those feeling down >>
    any news on Bargainbird yet
    Cheers folks

    Hi all,
Well had a good day yesterday,Little Maisie came yesterday to see us (18 months) my daughters god niece, before Mrs B went to work. Then my daughter and her other friend went shopping which gave me chance to do my cleaning for mrs b. I cooked the remains of the slow cooker from night b4 and had it with baked spuds, was lovely.Had a lazy night on sofa watched some tv,watched a dvd (Underworld) and then played a bit on computer,Mrs B read a book and then played on wii a bit.Today its shopping at Mozzers and then maybe as katie is at friends for roast lunch we may get ours at mozzers,we;ll see, want to watch julie walters 2nite in that play, she is always good and looks to be a good one. I also read her book and its hilarious, get it if you can! Well off to get a shower and get dressed now, call in later,oh and halight you missed a bit on your right nail lol, whats he like lololol......:j

  • Well, I am in a dilemma. The house we saw is very nice, and we would like to make an offer. Our house is almost exactly twice the size of the one we would like, so we need to get rid of stuff.

I have been putting a quantity on ebay, but not much is selling (funnily enough, in January, during a credit crunch) even though it is all 99p start. I am just wondering, given that we will probably get a discount for bulk when we order skips, is it worth me losing the fees? Is it worth me listing? The lady we spoke to is obviously wanting a quick sale, so we cannot dawdle.

Little bear is upstairs being very loud. I am almost too nervous to look.

Well, today I will see if I can do a challenge to see how much I can throw out. After I have gone to check on little bear!

wannabe sybil - have you tried freecycling things? It's amazing what people want on there???? :D

I'm a bit confused this morning - there is a clear blue sky and bright sunshine, yet it's still raining???? It's too much for my brain today :D

OH complaining that it's not haggis for dinner tonight - but I really can't stomach the thought of haggis this year, although I normally love the stuff.

Baby never turned up yesterday, but that was to be expected really, so we are back to the waiting game. OH is beside himself with excitment, which is really sweet, but he keeps asking ME to hurry up and doesn't seem to understand that it's BABY that decides when it's going to make an appearance. I never thought I would welcome pain and discomfort, but I'm definately at that stage now  :D

Had porridge for breakfast and have HM soup for lunch - think that'll be my nod to OS for today. Plan on a walk later (if rain clears) followed by some DVD's this evening. Have a good day everyone x

WS, when we down sized to move in here I freecycled a load of stuff and have freecycled more since, you will usually find someone wants what you have got, often you will see people asking for something you no longer want too.

This morning my worst nightmare, took OH out for his walk and he started with a DD whilst we were out, I had to more or less drag him back and get him into bed!!!!!!!!!!!! I can do wihtout that I can tell you.

Bed changed, sheets in the dryer, oh how I wish we had a line outside, towels in the washer now...... will have to nip down in a few moments and get the sheets, etc, want to iron them this afternoon, I am getting very lazt, just sticking them in the airing cupboard and forgetting them!!!!

OH has just wandered through his DD has gone off, so better get some lunch, bread and cheese I think, with the last of the salad from last nights supper.

Please can someone point me in the direction of the thread for the artisan bread, I am bIowed can find the recipe, my friend wants it, she has not got a bread maker but wants to make her own bread. Thanks in advance......

    Afternoon peeps

nasty and wet and windy here today but at least the car wasn`y frozen when i left for w*rk.

Still feel a bit stiff after yesterdays gardening but not as bad as before.

Mr Sunny is in charge of the housework today and for some reason is not answering his phone:rolleyes: I hope that he remembers to put the shrubs cuttings etc into the garden recycling bin - hopefully they will all fit in.

Dinner later will be the rest of yesterdays lasagne with broccolli, potatoes and carrots so an easy one for later:D

Brokenwings - My friend has a horse who refuses to come out of his stable if its cold and wet, if its just one or the other then he is fine but not both together lol, she has a lot of coaxing to do when she needs to clean the stable if the weather isn`t good and thats when he has his blankets and his coat on :D Hope that you lil donkey is snuggled away somewhere warm and cosy.

Silvercharming - If my DH`s fishing stuff ever fits in the cupboard i shall be amazed:rolleyes:

Well i`m off back to the grind, can`t wait for teatime and i can go home.

Have a good afternoon everyone x

Feeling virtuous, making spicy parsnip soup with the stock I have just made. All manner of leftovers and whoopsies! Mash from freezer, bits and bobs in the freezer (scraps of veg and parsley stalks) lamb bones from We, chicken carcase from yesterday...mmmm, whoopsied parsnips and onions....and carrots.

Tasted soup and it's delicious, based on the one in the Cranks cookbook. I got this in a 2nd hand shop while on holiday, lots of really good recipes in there I think.

  • Hi

Was up very early today as OH has had chesty cough/cold for a couple of days. Has been up most of the night and finding it difficult to breathe...he has asthma and the inhalers were not doing anything.
So we were at the GP co operative at 7.30am, he had some nebs and prednisolone tabs and got a prescription for more....GP said he was so severe we would have been justified in calling ambulance:eek:
So he has been given orders to rest today, and I think it has scared him into giving up smoking:T ...he is 34 and sounds like an old man wheezing:rolleyes: .

We were having Roast lamb etc today but as OH isnt feeling like much and DS doesnt eat much roast dinner I will make Toad in the hole instead I think and freeze the lamb for next week.
Only other thing I have done is bought my fat cat a pink collar with a diamond on:p ....she looks fab hehe, OH thinks I am bonkers.

Hugs to all who are sad or ill

    xx
