Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 25th Jan. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread that we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we have achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.
Morning friends!
Ok, so yet again I am up early. I was asleep by about 2230 but when my OH came home he woke me, even though he tries not to. So then I found myself staring at the ceiling, wide awake!
Anyway, I am here now and I feel like I should apologise 'cos my posts are always so long. I did think about not using my font to squidge it all down a bit, but that just wouldn't be me.
Moggins - *hugs* for you honey
Welcome rachbc, I know you will love it here
PenPin - Hoping you feel better today hun.
Taplady - I'm so sorry to hear about your mums neighbour, must be really upsetting for her
Ivyleaf - Well done on getting the IB50 done! *hugs* to you.
Hester - sorry you had such a lousy Friday hon
Lesley - No - am hoping this means he got over the virus and is in hospital having his op. His mobile is on ansafone only.
What, just one word? My sons have a whole list of words that aren't nice bless 'em.
:rotfl: :rotfl: I remember when my eldest nephew was around 2. He was in the child seat in the shopping trolly and suddenly said 'Bugg*r!'. I couldn't stop myself from laughing much to my sisters anger, but after that, he just kept saying it over and over as we walked around doing the shopping. People kept frowning at us which really annoyed my sister but I was just in fits every time his lil baby voice said it. NOT a good aunty!
Luckily once we were back in the car he forgot the word and it didn't appear again for years!
sistercas, hearing you talk about your cat waking you up made me smile! My fat cat
sleeps with us at night, but (and I know this sounds odd) she is scared of the duvet unless she is sure it is stable underneath. This means that she will only sleep on one of our bodies and will not walk between us where the duvet is bunched up, so tries to either jump or half hop, half dig her claws in and drag herself over! Either way it is not unusual for us to wake up with a cold nose and cat dribble an inch from either my face or the OHs.
Didn't do much OS at all yesterday.. my OH was exhausted and slept late. Then we had cheese and red pepper sandwiches for a late lunch and he fell asleep again, so I did some reading. It did my legs good to stay on the bed most of the day actually, I was pain free for about two hours when I got back up and that is great!
Today’s plan is for a nice roast dinner and some baking. My OH asked what joint I wanted and I suggested we just had a chicken breast each from the freezer and make the roast up around that. We have some whoopsied broccoli and frozen sprouts so are OK for veg. And I will make the apple and raspberry crumble I didn't make yesterday! So real store cupboard eating this weekend!
I hope everyone has a peaceful and enjoyable Sunday.
Warm gentle
to anyone who needs one.

Good morning MSD and all who follow. I had to laugh at the b*****r story, MSD! Out of the mouths of babes, eh?
Can't believe it's been a month since Christmas - only another eleven months to go, girls! Oh, sorry, and boys! And Halight, who seems to be a bit confused at the moment! Sorry, Halight - I couldn't resist it.
Well, it's a horrid day here; the rain is lashing against the windows and it's windy, too. The washing will have to be dried upstairs again. I have a line under cover in the garden but sometimes it's just too windy to use it, so the airer will be put to full use today.
Breakfast today will be porridge with seeds and sultanas in it; dinner will be roast chicken (using chicken breasts from the freezer), tatoes, broccoli, carrots and gravy, with bananas and icecream for pudding, and then I shall make something to go with custard for tea. Might get DH on that - he has perfected the Victoria Sponge, so he can be set another baking task, I think!
Well, today's plans are to do not very much at all - a bit of my own freelance work that needs to be in for tomorrow this morning, dinner and then an afternoon on the sofa catching up with Victorian Farm and knitting. We've only watched half of the first episode because DH has been working late for the last few weeks. I saved the programme for him to watch because he's interested in the renovation of the farmhouse; hopefully, we'll catch up with it all today.
I hope everyone has a good day today. (((Hugs))) to all who are feeling unwell, sad, anxious, are nursing poorly loved ones and pets. It's been a sad month so I'm hoping that February will bring everyone some peace and happiness.
Will call back later.

Morning MSD, Mioliere & All to follow.
Mioliere - I too cant wait for January to be over, at least Febuary is a short month.
Weather is wet and miserable again today, not too bad as I will probably be ironing for quite a while. OH went out yesterday so came home late for dinner and we had a Indian Takeaway for the first time in ages - it wasnt very nice I dont know why I do it! Anyway have yesterdays dinner tonight and will have a roast tomorrow.
Just about to put the BM on for lunch and will jump in the shower. Want to make a carrot cake this afternoon and hopefully a chocolate cake. Kids hopefully will amuse themselves today.
Off now for a surf and finish my cuppa, have a lovely Sunday.

Good morning everyone
I haven't posted much the last couple of weeks as it has been a little busy in the apple_mint household. I have dipped in and out of Old Style though.
We were very industrious yesterday - with OH putting some of that stretch plastic on our sash windows to keep the drafts out. We got it from Wilkinsons and it has worked out at about £2 per window. I wish we'd done it ages ago  - it made a huge difference to the living room last night.
Roasted a large leg of pork yesterday. We had a full roast dinner last night and then sliced off the cooked pork and popped dinner sized portions in the freezer. As I doubled up on the veggies and roast potatoes - we also have plenty for another dinner today.
((((hugs)))) to everyone - times are tough but this is just the best place to get positive vibes and support.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -

good morning to everyone...so much for a lie in, my 2 dd's are away at seperate sleepovers and I told my son we'd have a great lie in this morning....I woke at my normal time!
Have fed my kittens and am back in bed so I suppose that's something!
Pouring with rain here, it was nice yesterday cold but the sun was shining and the day stretched out till just after 5pm...so spring is just round that corner! I got some daffodils (fave flower) reduced to 15p at tesco last night so got a few bunches to brighten up the house.
My washings are all done just monster ironing to do today.....and clean bathrooms again!
Hope everyone has a good Sunday, M0 -
Morning folks
Very windy here- looks like it will rain as well.
Awake and up at usual time again - must be my age - I surely don't need as much sleep as I used to.:p
Plans for today include going to the library to do some more writing. I managed to get a few hours done there yesterday - I could focus whereas at home I'd be putting on washing or something else.
Other plans include ironing enough clothes for work this week and a quick hoover upstairs. Need to put away washing that has been dried on radiators and has accumulated in the livingroom. Might also make up a pot of soup but I know I have to eat some of the HM soup cartons in the freezer as I want to defrost it at some point. Decisions, decisions!!
DH home on Wed so that will be great. He will have been away for nearly 2 weeks and I find that l o n g.
(((hugs))) to those having a difficult time

Morning :hello:
Our attic is being eaten  Woodworm  Master tru got us some industrial strength stuff from work so mr tru is spraying it today. It'd better work - one of the rafters has been chewed to three-quarters of it's width, about a foot long.
I haven't watched Victorian Farm this week, I'll catch up with it later while eating lunch. I love the pig sty from last week, I want to build one for our guinea pigs
Why is it that I write lunch, but say dinner? I also write sofa, but say settee
Not much OS going on today. I need to renew my website by 3rd feb but haven't got any money, do I let it go :undecided Then again it makes just over three times what it costs and that's if I don't sell anything. Sales are a bonus ATM  Might borrow the money...............Bulletproof0 -
Morning all,
Horrible day here, blowing a gale and pouring with rain, dd is supposed to be going with her dad to watch her step-brother play football, but I am not sure the match will be on.
Got a load in the wm, which will be hung on the airer, got to put yesterdays dry washing away, well I put it into piles and each person takes their own
Roast lamb for lunch, with roasties, carrots, and another veg, I can't seem to get enough carrots at the moment, I wonder if there is some vitamin in them that my body is lacking  .
Hopefully it will stop raining for an hour to get little dog out for a run, other than that I think it will be a lazy day reading the paper, (we also only get one a week,), and watching tv.
Hugs to all in need,
Katholicos sending best wishes for your dear son xx
Have good days all xx0 -

Morning all, overcast here today, it chucked it down from about 9pm last night. Not much planned for today, a nice quiet day, I hope. I spent about 8 hours pulling up tree stumps yesterday, managed to get three done in that time, all by hand. By rights I should be aching like mad today, but I'm not.
OH cooked some shin beef in the SC yesterday and it was fantastic. Glad I've found a butcher that sells it at a reasonable price, about a third of the price of what my local butcher charges, so I may have a new butcher as well.
I caught the Victorian Farm last night for the first time. It reminded me of many memories and stories I've been told about my grandparents farm. I still remember their earth floors, they surprised many a visitor in the '70's. Or the time my dad was allowed a day off school to help as the electric was being put in. Shame its only being used for storage now, the people that bought it finally decided it was too isolated to use as a home.
Have a good one everybody, what ever you are doing.0
