It does!!! Just takes a bit of practise
Like any good habit it takes a while to become natural but you'll get there. Best thing to do is regularly check in on your diary, on the "what little DFW things have you done today?" threads and the OS Moneysaving threads for inspiration & ideas.
Hope you got your shared chips ok!0 -
Just a quick message. I'm at James' and he's paid for everything so far, so I've come in at £18.20 of my £20 budget. :j :j :j Unfortunately, no one will ever see that as the diaries have been exiled!
I'm going back to Bath again tomorrow, so it's back to reality as of then. I'm going for a shower in a minute and then I'm writing a list of what Sikhism textbooks I need so I can get them on Mon. I won't be able to get them tomorrow because I don't get back until 4 and the library closes at 5. Also, the landlord's visiting on Mon so the house'll have to be clean. Plus we've got to tell him that no one's stopping next year, which I'm not looking forward to.
The chips went fine, I'll probably be doing that every week for a while. As of next week, I'm also having a drink at the SU before I go to the Globe then just having tap water at the Globe. That'll save me £2.05 a week and should help keep me under budget.
Next week, I've got two mystery shops lined up and my night out, which means that's pretty much all I can spend that week. The food shop will be on another gift card so that's all covered.
This post's getting a bit long so I'll put my list of things to do in the next post.

Ok, here's my list of things to do tomorrow.
Housework
[STRIKE]Put away clean washing.[/STRIKE] Done.
[strike]Wash pots.[/strike] Done.
General
[strike]Daily scratch.[/strike] Done.
[strike]Look for more surveys on iPoints.[/strike] Done.
A nice short list that I'm determined I'll actually finish. Talk again soon (if anyone ever sees my diary again.)

Awesome, I got it all done! :j
The landlord's coming to visit tomorrow and we've got to tell him that we're not stopping next year. That should be awkward, to say the least. He's arriving any time from 10am onwards, which means I can't go food shopping until after he's been. It won't be much of a food shop though, my grandma wasn't very well over the weekend so she's not posting the lunchbox and gift card until tomorrow. So I'll be shopping on the remainder of the last gift card.
James took me to Pizza Express this weekend, which was lovely. While we were there, he also told me that in 5 years time, he sees us in our own house, married for two years! :j He never usually says commitment based things, so that's a really big deal to me. Not sure we'll manage the own house bit, as there's no way we could even have a deposit in 5 years, but the second the debts are paid, I'm starting Hypno's squares towards the wedding of my dreams (and said deposit). :j Which will scare the Bejesus out of him, that's for sure.Oh well, what else are girlfriend's there for? :rotfl:
Putting that down, and getting a whole list done, has put me in a great mood so here's tomorrow's list, then off to bed.
Housework
Put away clean pots.
Wash dirty clothes from weekend.
General
[strike]Landlord visit.[/strike] Done.
Food shop.
Put money from weekend into bank.
[strike]Daily scratch. [/strike]
I'm off to bed now, I don't really want to be in my teddy bear PJs when the landlord shows up.Talk tomorrow.

Sorry I haven't posted in here lately, it's been a bit hectic.
We told the landlord and he was ok with it. Turns out the agency had told him the place was rented for next year anyway. Nice of them to tell us.
I've also joined Dooyoo today and I'm going to try to do one review a day, if I have time.
I need to get to bed soon so I'll write my list and then go.
Housework
Wash pots.
Sort clean clothes.
Uni
Sikhism books.
General
[strike]Daily scratch.[/strike] Done.
[strike]Write Dooyoo review.[/strike] Done.
[STRIKE]Mystery shop.[/STRIKE] Done.
Talk soon.

I've just printed off the list of Sikhism books and I'll be collecting them tomorrow. I feel a bit better now that I've found out that four other people in my class haven't started their essays yet either.
Hypno06 read my Dooyoo review and she's added me to her Circle of Friends! :j She's an absolute legend and I'm really pleased she's had a look at what I wrote.
It's been a interesting day at uni. It's the first time I've got in for a morning class in about a month! So I didn't have a clue what the tutor was talking about but she did explain my essay question a little more clearly. I then went to a talk on the recession and how it's affecting the job market (like I didn't know!) and things that students should be doing to increase their opportunities of getting a job after uni. Basically, get work experience and learn how to sell ourselves to employers. Common-sense stuff but it was good to hear it anyway. Then I went to another talk, this time on working for charities. It wasn't all that useful in terms of telling me things that I didn't already know but it gave me some motivation to get things done.
So when I got back home, I called the CAB again and left another message. This time the woman got back to me and I'm meeting her at 2pm on Mon! :j I also called up about the job I'm meant to be doing the trial of this weekend. I got an answerphone and if I can't get hold of the guy tomorrow, I'll leave a message.
I've got a lift tomorrow morning so I can't afford to sleep in. I need to go downstairs and wash some of the pots but then I'm off to bed. I'm not doing a Dooyoo review tomorrow as I haven't got time. I'll try to do one on Fri though.
Housework
Wash more pots.
[STRIKE]Sort clean clothes.[/STRIKE] Done.
Uni
Sikhism books.
General
[STRIKE]Buy bread.[/STRIKE] Done.
[STRIKE]Pay cheque into bank.[/STRIKE] Done.
[strike]Daily scratch.[/strike] Done.
[STRIKE]Ring about job.[/STRIKE] Done, left a message.
I'll write again tomorrow.

I'm knackered. I didn't get to sleep until midnight and I had to get up at 7 to get ready for uni. Nothing like a lift to guilt-trip you out of bed. That's two nights in a row I haven't had my 8 hours and my body doesn't seen to like it. I might even have some Pro Plus before uni, even though I've been really good and not had any since before Xmas. Though I'm sure Mahinda will manage to send me to sleep anyway, he usually does.
I rung the guy about the job and left a message on his answering machine. If I don't hear from him by tomorrow, I'll ring again and leave another message.
Quick lunch (pasta and sauce), then back to uni again. Talk later.

How on Earth have I let it get to Sun without updating?
I've just been reading through hypno06's Dooyoo review and I'm now craving a weekend at Center Parcs.Oh well, maybe one day. Still no word back on the job, I'm starting to think I haven't got it. I'm applying for another one in Keysham tomorrow as well, which is for the same agency that I worked for over the summer in Scarborough. So hopefully, as they're one of my references, that should give me a better chance of getting it.
I've finally started my essay, I've done 18 words.I've always thought starting is the hardest part, so it should be easier from here on in. I've got to go shopping today and pay for part of it with actual money.
The giftcard runs out this week so that'll be a shock to the system. Anyway, I need to get on with stuff, I'm still in my PJs!
Housework
Finish washing pots.
[STRIKE]Do a load of clothes.[/STRIKE] Done.
[strike]Empty binbag.[/strike] Done.
Uni
[strike]Get to 100 words on the essay.[/strike] Done.
General
[strike]Food shop.[/strike] Done.
[strike]Post form for Nectar card.[/strike] Done.
Post form for OddsOn card.
Write Dooyoo review.
Talk later.

Again, Sainsbury's don't have any Quorn mushroom pies and again, they've doubled up (technical term, the woman I asked about it last time used it
) with Quorn Cornish Pasties. I don't like Cornish Pasties! Btw, 'doubling up' means putting another product in its own space and then putting more of that product in the space for whatever they've run out of.
Since my giftcard now has 10p left on it, I think I'll be taking my custom elsewhere for the pies.
The jar of pasta sauce in the fridge needs using up by today so it'll be pasta and sauce tonight. Once I've washed the pots, that is.

Sorry I haven't updated in so long, I've had an awful bout of depression lately. I've been trying to work on an essay but most of the textbooks are gone from the library so I've had to ask for an extension. Also, I've fallen back into my old ways and started using my cards again. And I've just found out that my Oyster card top-up, which ended up going on one of the cards, has been charged twice. Good thing BT's made 0845 numbers free, I'm going to be calling a lot of them while I get this sorted.
I think I'm taking the wrong approach to these cards. I've ended up so caught up in the DFW culture of throwing everything towards getting that DFD a tiny bit closer that I've lost sight of the light at the end of the tunnel. I keep thinking that I'm going to struggle forever when in fact, it's only 5 weeks until my next student loan comes in and it's only 3 months until the summer. As long as I can hold out until then, I can work full-time over the summer and pay the cards off then. I'm trying too hard at the moment, I need to ease back. Even if it means only paying the minimums on the cards for a bit, I can't afford to let my uni work slip and I am doing.
So, on to my new, positive plan.
Housework
[STRIKE]Put away clean pots.[/STRIKE] Done.
[STRIKE]Wash more dirty ones.[/STRIKE] Done.
Sort clean clothes.
Uni
[strike]Collect Sikhism textbook.[/strike] Done.
General
[strike]Pay credit card bill.[/strike] Done.
[strike]Pay change into bank.[/strike] Done.
[strike]Daily scratch.[/strike] Done.
[strike]Ring Lloyds about double charge.[/strike] Done. They say it's on their records but the money hasn't been taken yet. I need to call back in a few days to see what happens.
There's no reason that list can't all be done. Now, I'm going to put out my clothes for tomorrow then I'm going to sleep. Just 5 more weeks, then it'll all be ok.
