  • I got the extension, so essay stress isn't biting so much now. I'll do some more on it tonight. I just remembered that I need to get another prescription for my contraceptive patches this week and since it involves having my blood pressure done, I can either try to get an appointment (fat chance of that) or sit in the drop-in clinic for an hour. I'm opting for clinic so I'll head up there now.

  • I've just looked on the uni website to find out my term dates for next year to see if I can make the Bristol meet and it says my finishing date is 18th June 2010. I knew it was somewhere around then but having it down in writing is quite scary. I feel a little sick now...

  • Just putting together the last minute preparations for the weekend in Birmingham. I still haven't got those patches so I'm heading up to the doctor's in 1/2 hour, just before the drop-in session starts, and hoping to be first on the list. I've now got to copy out all the Sikhism books from my handbook so I can look for them in the library tonight and what I can't find, I can use in the British Library on Sun and Mon. Then back to Bath late on Mon and work on the essay again on Tues. So all being well, I should be done for Weds morning, when it's due in. Then I can get on with the background of the religious community I'm doing my placement in. I think I only need to do 500 words on that, so that shouldn't take long.

  • Good grief, I've really let this diary go! I guess because I know no one's reading it.

I'm back home in Scarborough, on my dad's computer since my laptop won't connect to his router for some stupid reason. I've just been having a go at matched betting, spurred on by my £10 win from yesterday. I think I might've picked a bad bet today, I just heard on the matched betting thread that it sounds a bit dodgy. Oh well, I'll chalk it up to experience (or is it 'chalk it down'? I'm not sure).

My grandma bought me some new jeans on Fri, which are just in the wash to soften them out. They're a tiny bit too long but they'll look lovely with the wedges my mum got me the other year, if I can find them. I know they're in my room in Bath somewhere. :D

As you can probably tell, I'm feeling a lot more positive now I'm back home. There's a few reasons for that. Firstly, I'm home again. Secondly, I haven't had to pay for anything (besides one phone top-up) since I got back. And lastly, I've realised I can get a 2nd hand comp that will play the Sims 3 for about £100 after my loan comes through. Yes, I know how irresponsible it is to spend money on silly things like computers when I owe about £1750 on c/cs (really must update that sig) but I need something to keep me going. Also, now that I've got the hang of matched betting (I think), I'm going to try and at least pay off the Halifax card before I buy a new (to me) comp. It'll be a challenge but I'll try.

Anyway, this post is getting a bit long so I'll go check on the washing. I don't know when I'll next get on-line so no list for now. Talk soon.

  • Hey :)
Things sound a bit more positive for you, shame I can't say the same :(

Just to let you know that I ALWAYS read your diary. I have stopped writing in mine because I physically can't make any leeway towards my debt and it was really getting me down and I also suffer from depression, so know how you feel.

Hope you are having fun in Scarborough, I love that place!!

  • @ sillylittlejill - It's nice to see someone's still reading this. It's just a little disheartening sometimes when you think no one's reading your diary because no one ever replies.

I'm starting to appreciate Scarborough a lot more now that I'm not here as often. I never used to like it that much but now that I don't live here any more, I really miss it. Unfortunately, it's not easy to get home. It's either costly to do it by train, stressful (and still costly) to do it by car or takes all day to do it by coach. At least I get to see James fairly regular. Thank God for National Express funfares!

I'm just at James' today, using his internet and generally hanging out. He seems to have forgotten I'm here though, he hasn't come in for a few hours. :( I've managed to get a few things done though. I've done another matched bet and I'll know the results of that one tomorrow. It should hopefully turn into a nice, steady income once my student loan's through and I have money to stake to start with.

I'm setting myself a new challenge. If I had room on my signature, I'd add it to the 'complete this challenge' challenge but I don't, so I'll just have to keep track of it in here. I really want to buy a new computer before the Sims 3 comes out, which is on the 5th June. But I don't think I can justify getting one until I've cleared my Halifax c/c, which currently stands at £765.71. So my challenge is to make enough through matched betting, selling my stuff and anything else I can think of to have paid that card off by 5th June. It's the biggest challenge I've ever done but I'm determined to not buy that computer until that card is cleared. Wish me luck!

  • Why does this always happen to me?! I decided all of an hour ago that I was going to get my life in order and already the feelings of depression are back. It's as if as soon as I decide to delay something I want, I automatically think I'll never get it. Yes, it's a lot of money that I need to pay off. Yes, it's going to be difficult. But I honestly don't think it's impossible. So why do I feel like it is?

    Hi,

Didn't want to read and run. I have just got through your diary and just wanted to say good luck. I remeber being a student and have only just cleared my debts from it I so wish i had had your foresight.

I have now subscribed to your thread so please keep on posting. May sound corny but here is always a light at the end of the tunnel and you are doing so well.

@ calcinite - Thanks for subscribing, hope to hear from you again. What you said is true and it's not that corny. Clich!s are usually clich!s because they're true.

I'm up to £23.96 profit from matched betting. :j Only £741.75 to go. It sounds a lot but I just added up all the offers on the 'Today's Bets' section of freebets4all and those alone would net me approx £500, not counting cashback. And after those, I can move onto the 'Free Bets' section and go through any bookies I haven't already done. I'm starting to seriously believe that it's possible. :j

PS Not sure why my word was censored. All I put was an e with a swiggly bit on the top.

Well done on your matched betting profit so far, you should be able to hit your target with few problems.

I definately look back on my home town with warmer feelings now i no longer live there so you are not alone in that aspect.
