    Very well done, I hope you become an inspiration to other smokers who want to quit.

    Just paid for a bottle of wine with a tenner and got 3 x £2 coins in the change, arrghh, I don't know whether to be happy or sad that the wine has effectively cost £10 !

    Well, the second count has been done and the 20's 10's 5's amounted to the sum of £878 :-

    20p = £490
    10p = £190
    5p = £198

    together with the earlier £3140 makes a grand total which would have gone up in smoke - £4018 !!!!!

    Not looking forward to the next count - 2's and 1's !!!!!!!!!

    Good Luck Saving

    Just one question...you say little stash, i somewhat don't believe this....you must have had a skip outside ur house!!!

    3. I know all the arguments for banking them and earning interest but part of me really wants to have a giant pile of £2 coins and have the satisfaction of seeing the savings!! I think I will end up banking them when I have a decent amount though, it doesn't make any sense to have them lying around really. Keeping track of how many I collect will feel good though, will have to be satisfied with that. As I only have £4 so far this particular dilemma is not too urgent!!

    Happy saving everyone!! :)

    For the purpose of the £2 club I don't think it matters about banking them straight away. Yes you could bank them each time you get one (presuming you work or live near your bank) but then it would become a tedious chore.
    Better to have a little fun watching the pile build up.
    I think when I get to about £50 I will think about banking them but until then it's fun to watch the pile grow.

    So it wasn't so little and yes I did struggle to move it. You wouldn't believe how heavy that lot is/was. The original deposit had to be carried in three loads from car park to the bank counter. Fortunatley the bank has it's own car park. I've still got the aching arms a week later and tomorrow I'm going to deposit the rest. :p:p:p

    Has anyone got any of the original £2 coins which appeared in the late 80's I think ? I kept 3 for posterity, and i'm sure they are pretty rare to come across nowadays. Maybe they're worth even more than £2 ;)
