A lot of people have discussed whether to keep the money or bank it - I have decided that I am going to bank it at the end of every month, and have two totals in my sig - (amount collected during current month / running total)

  • Grr, I have had no £2 coins since I decided to do this! How annoying!

:rotfl: Since starting I have had 13 pound coins, and one measly two. I think the woman in the post office was really bemused by crazy woman saying "don't you have any £2 coins?" when she gave me my change yesterday!

wow how long did it take your mil to save that much?

I'll be chuffed if I reach £100 by the end of the year!

I think it took her about two years to get over £2k. This has all gone on holidays etc. Must be nice!!

Great idea Louise, I am going to do that too. I was wondering how to resist the urge of dipping into the piggy bank, but this will solve it, plus it will then be earning interest. I have several ING saving accounts, so will be splitting my £2 coins between wedding savings and holiday spending money for July.

Now I need to find a £2 coin...

    that sounds brilliant :j

maybe a link to a spreadsheet would work?

sounds like a lot of work for you though, I hope its something you enjoy doing & won't turn into a full time job for you

its really appreciated anyway, thanks :T

    Hi Ozzyfan,
It looks like a link to a spreadsheet might be the way to go. This will probably be good though as the savings could be structured by 'Member' x 'Month' rather than just having a running total. All it would require is for me to step though this thread at the end of each month reading off the amounts the Savers have entered in their signatures and update the spreadsheet. Still looking at options..... All good ideas welcome..... :D

I finally got a £2 coin! I knew there was a good reason for buying a lottery ticket for tonight! I'm going to take it out of my wallet so I don't spend it by mistake.
