Awww please dont starve yourself to pay your debts thats just silly, at the very least before you can get advice go onto the National Debtline website and send your creditors the token payment letter along with a brief explanation as to whats happening and that you are going to see advice, then use the money to do some shopping, no creditor is worth starving for, besides you need food to help your brain work properly to help you make the decisions in the next few weeks
You can change the template to suit yourself, but these are really good starting points

Quote the Data Protection Act 1998.....( we will have both had to sit yearly assessments on this!!) .....what right do the Bank have to share your PERSONAL FINANCIALS with a 3rd party !! (ie your line Manager)....I have been a line manager & would have been horrified if the Bank had approached me with one of my teams financial situations!
Its between you & the lender....not your employer. As I said...get the Union involved asap.
Edit- OMG....gone straight into line Manager role there!!! sorry!!!0 -

As So Sad Angel says there would be some serious DPA issues if they told your line manager immediately I would suspect, ok then, why not send the letters in a timely order so that your debts that are not with your employer would get them first.....;) at least that woud give you a little bit of breathing space???0 -

Give yourself as much time as possible... get straight in your mind the steps you are going to take. If the Bank breach DPA regs they are in serious trouble.
Off now so speak soon....PM if you need to chat,

I did share my problems with my line manager but purely because I didn't want it kept a secret and then found out by other means and I thought it would look worse for me if I did not tell them - i.e. staff loan people contacting line manager. But it was my personal choice to do that and it was not easy, my line manager has been absolutely brilliant with everything so far (touch wood!).
Haven't actually told them I have gone and done the BR deed but they did know I intended to do it, just not when etc as I didn't think it was their business as to when, just that I was going to do it.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
Aw! it's threads like this that shows why I love this board, there is so much support.
National Debtline are incredibly busy at the moment and several posters have reported that they have had to sit with their fingers on redial for up to half an hour. So get yourself a cuppa and get comfy, warm up your digit and get dialing
My CAB has an email system where you can email them and request an appointment. Have a look on your CAB's site and find the contact details and tell them something of your situation and that you are desperate to talk to a specialist debt advisor and could you have an appointment.

try and remain calm. The guy who landed the plane on the river in New York remained calm and clear headed. He had 55 lives at risk,he wouldnt have done so being stressed out.You have 55k of debt,he had 2 minutes to save 55 lives.Think clearly, one thing at a time, write things down.0
