yeah chkd it thanks merry. appears i'll be better off without a mort! as for his dad...........forget it! hes abusive in every way possible so i dont want anything from him, it comes at a price! if he finds out im going br he'll kill me.

    Hi ttt

Are you still with your sons father?....apologies if I missed that in prev posts. Please don`t take abuse....get help if necessary.

Your union is likely to be UNITE 0844 736 0134 otherwise do call ACAS (dont have 0800 number but google will supply) ACAS is very good for some anonymous advice on all employemnt issues.

Nice one Angel - it never occurred to me to ask other bank people who their union was :o D'oh!!!

TT, no one expects you to put up with abuse - we all feel that people should be treated with respect and humanity. What benefits did you end up entitled to? And don't forget, you can use a Lone Parent worker at the Job Centre to help you get all of those benefits, which are going to help you out no end with your son.

i really need to get to the cab and get this sorted but having to wait up to 2 hours with a hyper 2 yr old is no fun. guess i'll just have to deal with it and hope that my son kicks up so much of a fuss that he irrates people that much that they have to leave and i can jump up the queue!

entitled to says i can have tax cred, income support and council tax discount. when im in rented i can have housing ben on top of those. its crazy. if i dont work and dont have a mort i can earn more than i earn now, feels wrong somehow. amazing what u can get when u chk.

unclaimed benefits and help is very often the CAUSE of BR, if only people had full info, such as pensioners and pension credits and heating allowances, it sometimes seems you have to be an illegal immigrant to get proper benefit advice

Don't forget to ask for a specialist debt advisor as thats who you will need to speak to. If you don't arrange that first you will be waiting then to be told you need specialist debt advisor.

You should be able to get working tax credit now - regardless of whether you are in rented or mortgage. I used to get it when I was on my own with my eldest two and owned a house.

Does your CAB book appointments? I know some of them do, specifically for the situation you are in with a child that gets understandably bored sitting around waiting. If not, then yeah, I guess it's a case of getting there half an hour before the place opens so you are at the front of the queue.

Its not `earning more` its about having `enough` to live on!!. Debt often means living under the poverty line just to get through the month....when you are in the depths of it you tend to forget that.
  • Hiya ttt2009,

There has been some great advice given here so far, please do seek advice from the charities, when they have the full picture they can give you clear responses, everyone on here is fantastic and can help once you've spoken to them.

With regards to your job, you really need to find your contract of employment and see if there is anything in there about BR, once you have the contract then please call the Acas helpline and talk to their advisers who can advise you on the employment law side of things so that you have a full picture before you next speak to your employers. They are really friendly and its anonymous so its def worth a call. www.acas.org.uk

Good luck with everything, there is light at the end of the tunnel, its just that sometimes the tunnel has a few bends in it!
