No not wrong at all. It's like being thrown a lifeline when drowning, which to all intents and purposes we are. Drowning in debt:rolleyes:

Don't get me wrong i was scared sh*tless moving out of my comfort zone(been there 10 years)but i had to do it,for my health, family and MYSELF for a change. I can not believe it is 11 months snce i left that job. My new job is very uncertain,if i had stayed in my old one i would have had job security, but no life. No contest really.

    I HAVE A LIFE........NOW:D :D :j

    Evening TT & welcome Hun,

If you are off ill the Bank cannot take any drastic action anyway. Are you in the union?? If so get them involved...if only to give you more time. The Bank are on very dodgy ground if they hassle you whilst off ill...esp if potentially the stress can worsen your condition.

You are not alone in this....Like Donna I also work in a Bank & like you have staff borrowings...in fact the staff loans are just handed out without any checks or searches...not that I`m saying they insisted I take mine but in hindsight the credit was far too easy...when I was struggling & needed to restructure my odraft etc...they just said ...whats my name/staff number, how much do I need & it`ll be in my account in 2 days!!! That was it!!!

I so empathise with you...its very difficult when most of the debt is with your employer but please speak to the union if you can. I have found them very supportive,

Debt Wizard says "it is not a crime to be in debt" and "it is a legal way to discharge your debts"

It is a fresh start and you can rebuild your life.

I don't feel guilty as I tried my best to pay them back BUT because of harassment I relieved myself of them!!

...just thought I`d add that I see many posters across these forums who work for financial institutions & I really feel that you become soooo `desensitized` to the value of money!!! Personally when I started in the late seventies as a cashier I remember seeing pound notes as just `bits of paper`....guess sadly I did`nt learn the value of money until now!!!

I have seen many (often high level) individuals in my role over the last few years who had similar issues with overcommitment. Oddly it only takes one event...be it divorce, bereavement, children, reduced hours etc etc & that tips them over the edge into difficulty. Many are still there trying to manage through!! In the end it drives you to stress then depresssion.

we have internal internet and it says on there but i dont know if it says on my contract. cant call hr as they will ask for my employee id. when i said i was having money probs to my manager she said she had spoken o hr and they said they would be fine with a dmp but not with anything else. br is my only option. i dont like my job anyway but obv other jobs will get ref and theyll c ive been sacked. not good.

well check your contract of employment next then.

ACAS or the CAB can also help

or go sickwith stress before going BR and sit it out 6 months, they cant sack you while sick without risking legal action, youve been there quite some time.

    Hi ttt,

Does it say on your internet site that you will be dismissed or maybe dismissed ......there is a difference.....if you are not directly dealing with customers, money or registered with the FSA then I can't see a problem...also whilst off sick I am not sure they can take action.
