ok.
i work for a bank. i have 50k of debt. 30k is to the bank i work for marked as staff accounts. they know i am having financial difficulties. wen i tell them im going br they will sack me, i know this for def. so when i get my forms through how do i fill them in as technically i am now unemployed.
also............
i have a mortgage. im in neg eq by about 10k. i wont have a job so cant pay the mort. i guess i'll be repo'd. i am still liable for the 10k diff if ive declared myself br? what should i tell my mort comp?
just want to get this sorted. i know i have no there option but to go br so losing my job and house is just something i have to deal with but want to get it all over and done with. once ive gone br should i just call the mort comp and say im moving out, come get the keys cos i cant pay u?
also..............
once u have gone br is it the case that u no longer have to pay anything towards the debt or do they still make u pay a token amount for a period of time.
ive had all the info from nat debtline but can never get through and my cab has a crazy waiting time which i cant do with a toddler. im getting phone calls from withheld nu's as have only made token payments this month. i dont want the baliffs turning up. can they still turn up if ive gone br.
finally im worried after all the form filling in and stress of getting the money i'll turn up and they'll say i cant go br. is this likely? its alot of debt un up over about 10 yrs, ive just started to struggle as im part time. y would they refuse br? jus worrying thats all.
help me pls!!!!!!!!!!

So if employed you say so.If that changes after the date of bc you just let the OR know if and when it happens.

cards on the table
you ARE going BR, fact.
ok, the bank sacks you? que sera sera, far worse things happen at sea
BR +1 is the first day of rest your (debt free) life
you will be alive, you will have you health, some would be happy with that, i KNOW it looks grim but weve all been there.
take a gap year.....(thats a joke)
claim benefits, stay in the house till the last minute (rent/mortgage free), private rent or HA rent, thats gonna be your plan i think, till you get a new job, one that is "BR friendly"0 -
Hi ttt2009
I did send you a pm but I don't know if you got it?
Anyway, couple of questions for you........
Was it a clause in your contract of employment that they would terminate your employment if going BR?
Have you taken advice from a union if you are a member of one?

Hi ttt2009,
It depends on the type of role you have at the bank. I currently work for a well known bank and went bankrupt last year. I told them the situation and they were fine with it.
I was ok because I worked in the marketing department for the bank and was not giving 'customer advice' about any financial matter.
I would recommend that you talk to your HR team - because I felt the same when I was thinking about going BR, but they explained the procedure and it was ok.0 -
TT2009, I'm getting a bit confused. The other day you posted this:well ive lost my job as i worked for a bank and owed them money so when i offered them a pound the loan dept contacted my line manager as it was marked as a staff loan and i was dismissed straight away. i have enough money to pay gas elec water and phone this month but dont know whats gonna happen next month. best get packing i suppose! the queue for the cab is always at about an hour to 2 hours wait, not much fun with a 2 yr old, and they never answer the phone. im stumped.
so have they sacked you or not??
If they have sacked you, have you sought advice on what grounds?
I totally understand that waiting to see the CAB, etc can be tedious, etc but they will be able to answer lots of your questions in one sitting, and enable you to make a move forward. At the moment, you seem to be going round and round in circles, and doing yourself no good at all.

i know for def that i will get sacked as my manager said if i get an iva or br i will be dismissed with immediate effect.
just waiting on the forms now, sounds like its gonna b hard work filling them in. what do i need to keep with me when i go to court? stats and mort stats?
ooh i forgot to mention part of my mort is an unsec loan, so what happens with that? soooo confused!
i really dont want to go into council prop as theyre really bad round here but i dont have a dep for a private rent and i dont think alot of them take on dss which is what i'll be
i hate being grown up!!!!!!0 -

ok but it still should be in the t & c of your employment that you will lose your job if you go BR otherwise you could potentially argue a case for unfair dismissal, can you call HR anonymously and check that what your manager says is correct?BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
we have internal internet and it says on there but i dont know if it says on my contract. cant call hr as they will ask for my employee id. when i said i was having money probs to my manager she said she had spoken o hr and they said they would be fine with a dmp but not with anything else. br is my only option. i dont like my job anyway but obv other jobs will get ref and theyll c ive been sacked. not good.0

There is a difference between being dismissed straight away and knowing they are going to sack you, cause your manager said so.
Are you still going into work at the moment?
