Having a relaxing day as DS at his dads till tomorrow morning...I would much rather he was here with us but just have to deal with it:rolleyes: .
when we dropped him at his dads last night I was telling i told him what happened at the Autism centre re DS`s dyspraxia and how they think he needs more help and maybe specialist school.....he went bonkers at me and said he didnt belong in special school and I was "putting him in the rubbish bin!"......it really upset me as I though I was finally getting somewhere with school etc.....ex DH doesnt really like to think of DS having autism etc and tries to ignore it...he only sees him once a week and chooses to ignore the problems DS has:mad: .

Wasnt very OS last night as we caved in and had indian take away:o
Making fajitas tonight and making own tortillas for first time:D
Making lots of buns and cakes today too to fill tins up for the week.

looking forward to watching Hugh et al about the chicks and Jamie about the pigs next week....am loving all these food programs at the mo:T

    have a good day everyone
  • Morning everyone, just a quick visit before we off to ballet again. I must remember to take a book with me tonight. Huggles to everyone who wants one.

Didn't manage to get on here yesterday as I didn't stop from the moment I got up until we got home at 6pm and by then DS was on the computer playing war games!

I managed to spend £91 in Mr T's yesterday but it was mostly yellowstickered stuff and my freezer has shot from nearly empty to half full which considering the humongous size of my freezer is pretty darned good.

I got a duck crown for Sunday roast which apparently I am cooking as OH is off out with one of his friends :( Luckily he only has £15 to go out with so he won't be able to get that drunk!!

I managed to get rump steaks, free range chicken breasts, king prawns and all sorts of goodies I wouldn't normally be able to afford as they actually put some decent reductions on them. I reckon I have enough meat in there to last us a month at least. I also got some watercress reduced down to 30p so I will be making some soup later.

OH picked up a dozen free range eggs in the co-op this morning reduced to £1 and also bought me a couple of large bottles of Gaymers cider which I love and were on offer at 86p each. I think he feels a bit guilty that his new job is leaving me alone on a saturday night.

Hope everyone has a brilliant day, we all seem to have been through the wringer lately so we all must be due for some better times.

G'morning all, will read through the thread and give thanks later, just wanted to pop in and wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Today i'm going to go and have a test drive in a new (for me) car, it's about 6 years old but my current one is old and falling to bits and costing an arm and a leg to run....so the new-second hand car is kind of OS! LOL!

I'm going to go and take some raisin scones and some dropped scones to mum and dad. I'm loving the ease with which these can be made in minutes. This afternoon i might make some bread and try to dig out my old upright chest freezer from the outhouse, under a pile of junk! I just don't know where to put it though as there aren't any sockets in the outhouse and the kitchen space is already taken up. Still, if i want to start building up my freezer with home baking and stuff, i shall have to find a place for it!

  • I've made notes, copied and am pasting this bit so hopefully I've not left anyone out. If so, please forgive me. Each one of you is thought of fondly each day, wished the best and prayed for.

talk to DH. He may be waiting to say something until you do.

Sybil Might be yeurk on the break of cyst but it will start healing and stop hurting now. Had a bad one years ago and the relief was tremendous when it drained.
    sorry folks if TMI.

Noah's Mummy Knowing for sure means getting him the help he needs now, unlike many years ago when no help was offered :( and wtg for the physio who is supporting you in getting what he needs education wise! As for DS's dad, if he chooses to ignore the difficulties, that's his problem. Well done you for getting them evaluated and addressed so that your DS will have the very best!

Jackie Hope the anti-biotics help and you feel better soon. Don't forget to have lots of hot fluids and rest.

Mummysaver Glad to hear you're ok after the car crash. Please rest and take it easy as it often seems we're sorer the next day.

    PenPin
Hoping you feel better today hun.

Ivyleaf Well done on getting the IB50 done! Time for a well deserved reward to yourself!

N9eav/Steve The £ to $ is yucky now. I still have to send funds to the states for various things and it's becoming very painful on the purse strings. From $2 down to $1.30 on the £ in less than a year is horrible. :(

Betheebee I hope you have a wonderful holiday! Enjoy and bring back pics to share please.

Redruby Hope you get some rest today. Make time for you.

Rachbc Welcome to the OS board. This is the greatest group of people on the net. You may find yourself addicted tho. ;)

  • Good morning all. Cold but dry here on the Lancs. coast today. All in all, it looks to be a good day.

I made the bread by the new to me recipe and oh my gosh is it good! I will use the other to make my loaves of french bread as it's more that consistency and taste. Good but doesn't hold a candle to the one I tried yesterday for sandwiches etc. I think I'll have to make another loaf tomorrow as neither of us can stay out of it. ;) Thanks for all the confidence given that yeast really isn't my enemy. :o

I forgot plain flour on my last shopping trip of the month. Please remind me not to make choc chip cookies with bread flour next time. The higher protein and gluten didn't help for sure. DH still liked them tho, of course he loves most all cookies and biscuits.:rotfl:

Have some whoopsied apples to do something with today. I'm going to partially stew them and then freeze. That way I can do a crisp, crumble, pie or whatever at a later date. Will do a small apple crisp for our afters tonight.

I made up a soup out of leftover chicken and pasta bake. Threw in some extra veg, broth and it's nice. DH took some for his lunch today and I had some for brekkie and will repeat for lunch.

Tea tonight will be HM lasagne that I made and froze earlier this month. I did them in very small pans this time enough for two servings which is all we need.

Furbaby Bree and I will probably venture to the park for a good game of fetch and to see her furfriends. She so enjoys it and it truly helps me getting out in the fresh air.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, full of blessings.

    Lots of gentle (((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))

    Hi guys,

Another one here who longs for a lie in!

I am just having another coffee before getting on. The washing is done and the TD nearly finished, bedrooms tidy - next stop a swish and a hoover so upstairs is then done.

DS1 is busily building a star wars lego spaceship with the occasional - muuuummm!! DD is getting ready for a dance show for us later and DS2 is playing with all his teddies and my blanket in the lounge. They are off dog walking with my sis this afternoon so it will be a late tea - hm pasta sauce (we will have a vote on which shape pasta to use) and some scrummy garlic bread lined up for that.

I have fallen out with Argos, they were meant to deliver some lego and a cheap hedge trimmer on Monday, when it didn't arrive I emailed and they arranged delivery for yesterday. It hasn't turned up again but they have debited my account for the goods! So I rattled another Email off last night expressing my disappointment. This is so unlike them - their delivery service has been spot on until now.

Well onwards and upwards, I hope to pull out the white goods in the utility and clean behind them when the kids are out, see also if I can locate the cause of the mold growing on the wall behind the fridge freezer. Then it's a hand and knees scrubbing brush job on the lino with plenty of bleach - I love the smell of bleach!

Pen-pin, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better today. Gentle hugs to you hun. xx

Gentle hugs and thoughts to all in pain and in need of one today. xx

Aussie, sorry it's late - belated happy birthday. xx

    Rachbc - welcome.

thanks for all the warm welcomes - my day just got a bit better and a lot worse. Found a bargain dishwasher on b&q sale which hubby has enough in his paypal account from ebay sales to buy for our 'work in progress' new kitchen. Reduced from 360 to 90. It was out biggest new item so the saving has shaved a big proportion off the budget

Headed out to the market to discover my purse is lost - I'm sure dd has hidden it in the house but can't find it anywhere. Luckily it has no cash in it just cards and hubby managed to get enough out (his payday on monday) to buy what we needed but grrrr nevertheless.

Hubby has also taken dd to the park with the car keys in his pocket so I can't take ds to do the bag pack - shall have to send him out to retrieve them!

    Good morning:hello:

When I woke up my watch said it was 5.55. I thought "What an odd time for me to wake up!" Then I realised it was a bit light out there for 5.55, looked at my alarm clock and it was actually 9.40 :D So a new watch battery need today,I think! Unfortunately Saturday isn't a good day to get one as it'll be difficult to park. There's a little jeweller's near the station though so if he's open I'll see if he can do it. It's a water-resistant watch so some jewellwers won't do it themselves. When I took it to Ernest Jones the first time it need a new battery, the assistant said it would have to be sent away to be done. I think they wouldn't do it in the shop in case they accidentally broke the seal. I explained that I never go in the water with it on anyway, but she was adamant. As she didn't seem inclined to lend me a "courtesy watch" in the meantime:p I took it to an independent jeweller who was happy to do it, but it'll be too hard to park near his shop today so i'll try the other one.

I was just thinking about the ready meal we had to have last night - it was actually a little bit OS because we had leftover baked beans with it :D

Moneysavingdiva - Thanks for the hugs :) Thinking of you xx

Peyton - Thanks hon, I may reward myself with a cream cake today as we need to go to the baker's anyway :D

Rach - Welcome to the thread :) I hope you find your purse!

Penny_Pincher - sorry you're still feeling rough - let's hope Spring won't be long when we can hopefully look forward to warmer weather. There are buds on my magnolia tree, and thriftlady's snowdrops are coming up:) i'm hoping my crocuses will be up soon, though i think a squirrel's had some of them:rolleyes:

((((HUGS)))) to all, especially those who are sad or in pain

    Best wishes ivyleaf xx

    Morning all :hello:

Huge :grouphug: to all who want and need one. Bargainbird, wherever you are, hope you and bump are doing well xxx

It's chilly in Cov today. Dave is going to help me rearrange the house today and has promised he'll put the shelves and speakers up today. Well done Dave :T it's only been four and a half years you've been saying you'll do it! I'd have given it a shot myself, but since I dislodged a foot-long chunk of plaster in the old house trying to drill a hole to hang a picture up, I've been banned from DIY :rotfl:

Went into Mr S last night :naughty: but got an organic chicken reduced to £2.50, some organic sausages reduced to 90p and some mussels off the fish counter for £1.15. We had the mussels last night, I know they say you shouldn't buy reduced seafood but they were lovely, and there were only 3 bads ones in the whole net. Bargain! Tonight is roast chicken, I am debating whether to put the sausages into the freezer (sensible option); make some sausagemeat stuffing to go with the chicken (gorgeous) or have sausage sarnies for lunch (Dave's idea). I think I'll see how far we get with the house by lunchtime to see if we've earned them!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday xxx

I hope bargainbird is O.K. and the new little one has arrived safely. If its a boy, I wonder if she'll call him Martin :rotfl: :D;)

Although it looks sunny, I don't think I shall poke my nose out today.Going to have a lazy day indoors.Youngest DD is going to pop in for a coffee at lunchtime so I think I'll knock up a few of twinks hob-nobs for her. Halway through the latest Peter James book so I may finish that off this afternoon. No shopping to get so a NSD.My bargain rhubarb was delicious and I have enough left for pudding tonight. Will have a rummage in the freezer for dinner in a minute ,still got lots of stuff in there.
