Got 30 odd radox gels, more palmolives, about the same niveas, not to mention shaving foams, numerous deodorants, razors, hand soaps, bubble baths and lord knows what else, all effectively free! I've not even finished sorting through all the bags yet so no idea what surprises still lie in store for me.
Theres enough there to keep a large family going for a couple of years easily. As for the excess of shampoos, it'll be used, sold, swapped or given away to good causes, but certainly won't go to waste.
I've not finished shopping yet either! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Sorry, not meaning to sound like i'm gloating too much, but life can be a right royal pain in the backside at times, and this is one of the rare times that things have worked out well for me (and i have put in many hours and driven many miles to get this, so i've certainly put the effort in), so excuse me if I feel like telling the world about it!!!
I have to admit that I have got a whole lot more nice face stuff (courtesy of Boots No 7), and hair stuff since reading this thread, but perhaps showergirlshirley is taking it a bit far. I don't understand why you would go to that much trouble to sell it on. Surely, other people wouldn't buy HE shampoo and conditioner from a Boot Fair or Ebay, as they could buy it new from the shop. Although clearance prices are lower, most people here are doing it for the points. Due to the current economic situation, most supermarkets and shops are discounting heavily and will continue to do so. Therefore, there will always be sales promotions.
I thought it was difficult storing five bottles of HE shampoo. let alone hundreds. My OH already thinks I am ddicted and barmy. Most of the time, I have to get him some shaving stuff too. Do you remember the story in the newspaper a few weeks ago about the woman who hoarded stuff and who died in her home under a ton of junk and shopping.0 -
Are you saying that you can get the gwp when you spend over £18 at original price of goods. So if it was £20 and reduced to £10 it should work? I wondered about that and asked a yound sa but he said it wouldn't. Hmm might have to give it a try as I really like the look of the new gwp.
Yes, on the half price No7 electricals thats the way it works instore (well, it did on Friday, and before that).0 -
Exactly, I feel bad enough cos I got 4 bottles of HE and 2 MM, and now have 6 shower gels to get through!
I just couldnt justify buying over 200 bottles of shampoo just to buy other stuff with points - my husband would think I was mental!:embarasse0 -
Off topic and snipped!
Sandra let me know how it goes with the gingerbread house, I got one in Ikea for my niece but have yet to make it!!
Angiexnow has her .com delivery but doesnt know where to put it0 -
Ref: Showergelshirley and all the HE/points? I remember another poster not long back announcing she was going to search her local area for 300+ bottles of HE so that her Hubby could buy a camera from the points rather than pay x2.5 the same amount in cash for it. And did she get one negative post about being greedy or gloating? No she did not. We all thought it was funny and applauded her ambition.
I think it's just sour grapes to complain about other shoppers getting in there first. If someone's prepared to put in the legwork and go out and find the deals then good on them. Anyone saying that it's okay for me not to care because SGS isn't doing this in my area? Correct, but the camera lady was. I don't remember her posting if she was sucessful, but I hope she managed it.
Bottom line is...if you want the deals, go out and get them. Don't expect them to be sitting on the shelves three days later. Anyway, next time you might be first at the shelf and are you really going to take less of a deal than you actually want/need because some other person you don't know from Adam might want some? I filled up the shampoo/conditioner drawer with 50 bottles of HE, which is 6/8 months supply for my crew. Yes I left some, but if I'd wanted another 50 bottles for the swimming club or whatever I'd have got them without a qualm.Val.0 -

I also think it's a bit much when e-bayers are labelled as the devil incarnate. It's a free country and these people have the same chance as you or I to find the bargains. I think people think it is easy to make money on ebay and it really isn't (in my limited experience). People mostly make buttons.
I mean where do you draw the line on the 'how many HEs are greedy' debate. You could start saying it is greedy to buy the last 2 rather than 1 because the person behind you in the queue will be disappointed.
I'm only bitter because I have to carry my bargains back on the bus and any more than 10 HE's kill my hands.

Its not sour grapes. The only thing I've wanted that I've not been able to get is the putting set. I myself took advantage of the Pantene offer to bump up my shops to over £5 to get the No7 blinkies, and now have enough No7 for men stuff to last me until the next No7 blinkie comes about(3/4months?). I tended to buy the Pantene Ice Shine shampoo/conditioners that I actually use anyway rather than the sachets though, as even though they worked out better points wise I had no use for them so left them for others.
I've posted on here that I've left HE on the shelf when I've seen it, as I don't need it. Most of the stuff on offer is of no use to me being male, but I know others appreciate the information. I post on here what I've seen/not seen on the shelves to make the other people on here who use the Tamworth/Lichfield/Nuneaton/Coventry stores know if its worth a trip as others do.
In the current economic climate there are people who need to use the offers to be able to buy stuff they need to make ends meet. To deprive someone of this chance just so you can get a load of stuff you wouldn't buy normally for free just baffles me.0 -

Yup, agree about Ebay. I've done a bit of selling in my time (I'm a toy collector and like most amateur collectore I sell doublers and lucky finds to finance my main collection) and it's boring, tedious and half the time you barely turn a profit. Plus all the bloomin' wrapping and queuing at the post office! Anyone that thinks they can get rich quick on Ebay is either deluded or has just inherited the contents of a rich relative's attic.Val.0 -
Im a shopper in norwich and had a trip round on wednesday, would have been nice to know I didnt need to bother hunting around for deals that were cleared out the day before, but then ive bigger things in life to worry about !
I think the person who was talking about buying 300+ bottles wasnt flamed because it was an in theory post rather than Ive already done it, as you state valk_scot everyone aplauded her ambition. showergirlshirley almost wrote it in a such a manner than it was sticking her fingers up to the rest of us in her area (and there are now quite a few here) because she got there first. Ive never thought of it as a competition between us all before but that post made me think maybe it is and im just being niave !
clearing a shelf of items is one thing but an entire city ????
