    thanks nanuq!

Have just been on the weight loss resources site - anyone been on it? if so, what do you think?

I've been on it, I think it's interesting and quite useful. I'm not using it just now because I have a tendency to obsess over my calorie intake vs calories used in exercise, and I know I'm eating reasonably at the moment. I will use it, or a similar site, once I'm fitter/more active, to make sure I don't overdo the dieting. --I get less hungry the more I exercise, LOL, and maintaining energy levels, during vigorous exercise, is important for long-term health.

What do you think of it?

Hi Plzhelpmesave! You are now added to the list on the first post - so welcome!

I used to use WLR but moved to https://www.caloriecount.about.com because of cost (free! a darned good price :D), the only problem with it is it tends to be US biased but there are UK items on there as well.

Any hoo - join in and enjoy!

I have been doing quite well with my food this week.

Saturday - slow cooked brisket with onions, tinned carrots (couldnt get any nice carrots). So I served it with some spuds. Then I froze some, then I had the remainder in a bowl with some wholemeal bread.

I have been eating oranges like there is no tomorrow too.

Did slip and eat two small lemon cheesecakes (fru) but have busily been eating fruit - currently 2 oranges per day.

Yesterday - lunch: cheese sandwich on wholemeal
Dinner was spag bol followed by some tinned peaches (I just fancied some)

Today - breakfast (some horrid blueberries - I hate waste so I have to eat the things even though I can't stand them:rolleyes: ) lunch will be another sandwich probably cheese and tomato.
Dinner will be - savoury mince (leftover spag bol with added peas) served with cabbage and leek and some spuds and no doubt yet more fruit.

I weighed myself yesterday and found that I now weigh 12st 6lbs:eek:

  • I am 13stone 6lbs and should ideally be 10stone 11lbs. Have a family wedding in July so if i start now will have lost 2and half stone for the wedding which would be great!!

Hey plzhelpmesave - I have a family wedding in July too which I'm aiming for - so we can motivate each other! ;) My bro's getting married in Mexico and I'm being bridesmaid - but the other b/maid and bride-to-be are dinky little things - so I've a lot of work to do!! (Especially since the location of the wedding, means a lot of time spent in a bikini - there'll be no hiding all them lumps and bumps!! )

Can I ask - how did you all figure out what your target weight was? I feel as though I've spent the last couple of years saying - "if I could just lose another stone..." - I don't have much more to go, but just not sure of where to draw the line. Currently, I'm 5'6" (obviously that won't change! ;) ) - and I weigh 10 stone 7 - are any of you a similar height with a goal in mind?

    xx
  • Hello
Can i join! Hi Tara thanks for the directions.

Im really wanting to loose weight for summer and to fit back into my existing clothes so i do not have to folk out for new ones.....and hey that will save me money too so a little extra to stick on the mortgage!!

I have just weighed myself (I have been putting it off). To reach my target weight I need to loose 10.6 pounds - (wasn't as bad as I thought actually half a pound less than i thought I would be!) So loosing half a stone through this group would be great. i have only just found it so I have three days of catching up to do - although ....so far..... today has been a good food day! (so really only 2 days to catch up on.

I really going to try not weigh myself for a week - i have found this my down fall in the past. I weigh myself too often and get annoyed if I have put on a pound - even though I am well aware that everyone weighs different amounts at different times in the day.

I also own paul mckennas I can make you thin - although I havent listened to it yet - might give that a bash too!

  • oh thanks dragon - this is great -have been getting lots of tips from peoples post! For the first time I feel positive about achieving this goal!
  • thanks for the welcomes esp dragon and nanuq.

the WLR site looks really good, although obviously this thread is better!! Found that they are offering most of their tools free through the FeelGoodFactor thing going onwith ITV so signed up to that as well.

Gives you various tips - all the things we know but don't do! And its FREE until end of March so thought it would be good as it has thousands of foods on there, excercise coutner and a challenge calendar so each week you change something - by the end of the 8 weeks you will have made 8 changes as you sustain each one... simple stuff like drink more water, eat more fruit, exercise etc.

Nothing to lose - except pounds and inches! - so wil give it ago. You can also donate to charity - £ for lb so another motivation i thought.

Crapwithmoney.com - lets do it baby!!! I wil be ordering my clothes for the wedding - need 4 different outfits! - in May - so finger crossed i'm well and truly on the wagon by then. I want - NAY WILL - look and feel gorgrous which I definately didn't feel at the last big family wedding. I remember standing next to a stunning (and thin) cousin with someone gushing over how bearutiful she looked. They then turned to me and said "Oh, you look nice too". Never felt so crarp about myself... but still haven't done much about it three years later!!
  • ooh forgot to say, Crapwithmoney.com - to find your ideal weight and BMI for your height, I just signed up to the WLR free 24hour trial and it tells your BMI and ideal weight for your height.

Think the NHS and weightwatchers both have something too - just google BMI checker or ideal weight.

4 outfits?! Why so many? It's good to have something to aim for - especially something which isn't too far away!! We will get there though - and by the time the wedding comes - I'm sure the family won't even recognise you! ;)
