We've just come back from St David's in Chester. It was a lovely hotel, and the room was great too - a HUGE double bed, large room, really warm and cosy. Very friendly staff too. Would go again for sure.

Thanks for this, am off there tomorrow (Sun) for the night, then again for mothers day. Really looking forward to this venue for a while now - so...yay! :T

If you have a look on www.deverevenues.co.uk and click on the "low cost bedroom finder" you'll find some reduced prices. Nothing for a tenner but there are some £19, £29 and £39 ones. Still worth it, IMO.

We've just come back from Gorse Hill in Woking. Had a really lovely weekend. The rooms were lovely and clean and warm. The bar had an open fire and there were candles everywhere in the bar & restaurant.

We ate a very nice dinner in the restaurant. It was £15 per head for 2 courses and then £4 if you want an additional course - the food was very good. There was also a discount of £5 off any bottle of wine ordered in the restaurant. We didn't have breakfast.

Not many pubs or restaurants around the hotel itself, although Woking and Guildford are only 20 minutes drive away. Great to get away from it all.

Very impressed, would definitely stay there again.

They originally did this in November for the £10 offer, then put it up to £19 when the £10 rooms had run out. Then they ran the £10 promotion again in January, and again followed this with the £19 rate shortly after.

There are some cheapy rooms available, but the dates now are limited.

  • I have just returned from a £10 stay at Milton Hill House near Abingdon and thought it was a bargain! Our room was in the accomodation block around the back of the main house, which looks pretty ugly from the outside, but the rooms were fine. Very modern with flat-screen TV, free wi-fi and comfortable beds.

We used the health club on Friday afternoon, there were only 4 other people there. I saw 2 hot drink stations in the main house building with complimentary tea and coffee which we thought was a nice touch.

The bar had a nice atmosphere in the evening. We didn't eat in the restaurant although the 2 courses for £15 offer was on, we went to a pub just outside the grounds which served main meals for £8-£9 each.

As previously mentioned these are all De Vere Venues and this one was also in a fairly quiet country setting, but easily assessible by car to both Abingdon and Oxford, so if you go there expecting to have to travel to local attractions you should not be disappointed.
